Well, here's an example of how the sentence might have continued: "When the weather gets real hot, so do the poor slobs who have to work outside repairing the road and mowing the tumbleweeds and scraping dead skunks off the asphalt and ..." (Sorry, I'm flashing back to my first job with the Texas Highway Department thirty years ago.)
Certainly we can do better with this thread, but you get the idea.
