As the banner above indicates, today I officially opened a new service at Magic Touch Productions: MTP Cinema

With MTP Cinema people can purchase five minute clips which they can download to their computer and watch as often as they want.

This new service is based around the idea of getting people the maximum value for their dollar. By buying 8 five dollar video clips for $40 (the average cost of a full-length video) the customer is a lot more likely to end up with more video that he or she really wants to see than if they bought one forty-minute video, no matter how good the video happens to be.

I'm going to be using only video footage that has been selected carefully for its impact, with the most intense tickling and the most intense interactions, with the excess trimmed off. Before putting the clips online I edit them carefully, cutting out even brief periods of weak tickling, to create a five-minute experience that is as devoid of excess as possible.

I hope people will enjoy them, and I'm looking forward to hearing what people think.

Thanks very much, Neutron! Thanks especially for the heads up about the sample clips, which should all be working now. I can't believe I missed that, I've gone over the site for bugs at least a half-dozen times, and it's not that big in the first place.

I'm hoping over time to get most, if not all, of my VHS content available online, but I still have to talk to my partner Don, who owns half the rights to about half the videos, including the Angelica (who I think you meant?)one.

I have big ambitions for this project, I really like the potential of the five-minute clip. It's long enough to accomplish something, but also short enough to be manageable.

I Like To Give Credit..

Where credit is due. I've been gravitating towards the 5 to 12 minute clip sites lately, vice the membership sites. I'd prefer to download specific scenes of my choosing. That's why I've been downloading from FM and Femfeet lately. I do prefer FM simply because every now and then for a buck extra they'll make a 12 minute clip available. Personally they'd be a lot better if they had your production value. One thing tib and Magic Touch have always down is post great video quality. While 5 minutes is a just tiny bit too short for me it still makes it worth it. Especially if it's just about all tickling. Also, in a format like this no one can say you're ripping them off when you don't have time to update.

Angelica is the one I'm thinking of. I think it came out right after Esther (which with the 2 Ember Tapes are STILL on my classics list)

Excellent idea Jeff. Like FM Concepts Magic Touch might completely reverse itself in my opinions. FMC used to be my least favourite company because of it's tickling, but I'm now an enthusiastic customer of theirs because of the "pick and choose factor" that online downloads offer.

My only question is, what took so long? At least 5 other producers beat you to the market. Now admittedly MTP has better advertising coverage than anyone else, because of the TMF; but they stole a bit of a march on you didn't they?

Thanks Jim. And that's a question I ask myself a lot, and the answer, I think, is that I have a lot on my plate already and I'm sort of in the middle-area of small business sizes that it's hard to move out of: I'm big enough to keep me very busy, but not big enough to start hiring help. So although I've been looking at the idea for a long time, I just haven't felt like I had enough time to put into it without letting something else slide. However, as my VHS business starts to take a less prominent role in my life, I'm having more time to devote to digital products. Thus MTP Cinema.

And now that I'm here I really like the possibilities of the format. I just wish more people would get broadband accounts. They're dense in big cities, but the total US broadband usage is only about 14% of total internet users, and what's worse is that it has had a slow growth rate that has been getting slower instead of faster. I don't know about other western countries, but the only nations I'm aware of having good penetration (Japan and South Korea) are not only not english speaking but they have completely different alphabets, so they're way out of my reach.

Sounds like you've got a wicked combination of too little time and too few people on BB internet access. Personally I couldn't exist on dial-up any more. My BB connection is more than 10 times as fast and I'm even considering speeding that up!!!

I notice above that you say,

With the best will in the world Jeff, what will cutting out the weak tickling leave? The credits? Of course that's summat we've gone over before, so what the hell. A repeat of the FMC slide isn't completely out of probability.

And be careful that all the other companies don't copy you with this 5 minute thingy. 😉

Afterthought........

Marcus might have a point. Longer clips might be better. I remember Tron and myself saying as much to TIB only the other day. Might be something you want to consider Jeff, depending on what the status quo is.

Also, having a description of areas tickled is of great benefit.
And what stands out are the short sample clips. So far as I can see no one else is doing this. I think it's an excellent touch myself.

I think it's the next logical step in online production, certainly. I'm glad Jeff made the jump. I know I'll be ferreting out some of his Dita and Ashley clips when he gets time to put them on. there's chemistry between those two that few models ever equal.

Frenchtickling, Silver Cherry, Dungeon Maidens and TC have all offered sample clips BTW. Others like lady Bella 🙂D) might also have done so, but I can't remember.

Ticklecentral clips to be updated

This is good feedback for those of us with clip sites. Thanks to all for participating. Those of you wanting full video downloads will be happy to know that we'll be releasing all of our material in complete downloadable clips within the next two weeks. Not to worry, though, for those of you that like to just pick and choose as we will offer the 5 min segments as well. Just to let everyone know, all of our clips come directly from the videos so to get a preview you only need to go to the site www.tickled2death.com and get the video preview clip that is there. We do ask that you save it to your hard drive to eliminate chewing up too much bandwidth on the site though.
To Big Jim: You stated that Silvercherry, TC and the like offered preview clips and I was just curious as to where you saw these on their respective clip sites. We were unable to locate them upon investigation. As stated before our previews are at the video store site. If any of you think that we should provide a link to the store from the clips site for each clip let us know and maybe we can do something like that, considering that it seems to be important to everyone. Again, thanks to all for speaking up. Those of us that produce content many times do so with a blind eye to particular desires of those that are less vocal. While we all share this fetish there are many different facets of it. Therefore, we as producers many times may alienate some points of view that we don't necessarily share. So please, everyone participate in these discussions. Who knows, you may bring new things to light about the fetish that we've yet to think of. Thanks again for all your support. Offer preview clips like Jeff does on his website.
If you look, Jeff has a short free clip as a sampling of his available clips. I honestly think that's an excellent idea and in my mind makes up for tickling.ws
I've had my issues with Jeff in the past but I feel his new site is the wave of the future and hopefully he keeps up with it. I give credit where credit is due.

I have no problem with paying for longer clips. I'd certainly never advocate saying Jeff put up 12 minute clips and only charge 5 minute prices. I'd pay a fair rate for longer clips, and maybe hopefully that's in the future. Right now, I think he did a hell of a good job on his new site and I for one hope it beccomes a success, no matter what the length of the clips is.

Five minutes seems like the standard everyone is using, and I have to decide based on something. But if there's a real desire for longer clips too, I'm certainly flexible. This project has only just gotten started and there's a lot of room for it to evolve into something "better."

Although I do worry about further alienating modem users, so I plan to stick with five minutes as my benchmark unless it turns out that longer clips can be just as accessible to people without high-bandwidth connections.

I'm a big believer in educated consumers. I think people who are able to effectively shop for exactly what they want are more likely to come back again. In my personal experience, there are sites with dozens of videos, some of them amazing, but because by dumb luck I started with one I didn't end up liking, I might never return to that site again. So the more I can help people get what they want from me, the more I feel like I'm creating a loyal, repeat-customer.

With my videos, that meant a lot of still photos and detailed descriptions and the lengthy preview clips. The five-minute instant-downloads are so much shorter and more immediate, though, that it's simultaneously harder and easier to explain what someone is buying. On the one hand, it's short so it's easy to describe, but on the other hand, it's short, so there's not a lot of room for a preview clip without giving up the whole ghost.

I feel pretty good about the balance that I've struck, and I'm really glad that someone noticed 🙂

Thinking about it now, I would probably charge what seems like the going rate of one dollar per minute, or somewhere in that neighborhood. (I'm thinking $9.95 for a ten minute clip might make a good alternative.)

TC's previous incarnation had a few preview clips available for download without payment. I think it might have been under the name of femfeet.

Silvercherry I stand corrected on, because I've just watched the clips I meant. They were part of the extremetickling.com site which offered access to a couple of thousand clips for six dollars. Not free.

I think that'll be a payer. Silvercherry have just gone for that themselves, releasing three of their vids as fully downloadable.
