account removed

Hello,
I've successfully set up this account 2 weeks ago and tried to log in today only to find my account doesn't exist and I actually managed to re-sign-up with the same username - it wasn't even in use!
Is this a common occurrence or is there a reason for this happening? I love this site and want to be a member but am worried about posting and creating galleries if my content will be lost.

If you have a look in the announcements section, you'll notice we had a database corruption issue a short time ago, wiping out all members, posts and threads from late March on. Alas, we can't recover the data; we apologize for the inconvenience. 🙁
