actual tickle torture

guys,

I am sure this has been debatable since the middle ages and I am sure it has been mentioned on here countless times, however, are the TRUE, FACTUAL accounts of tickling used as a legitmate torture...on anyone? This is not something that turns me on that is for sure just curious in the fact of what is talked about or heard of. With all this talk about crackdown on torture with the Geneva Convention and the United Nations and Amnesty International, what kinds of tortures are mentioned. I would think one could get more information out of someone by inflicting serious physical pain on someone rather than laughter. But then again stranger things have happned. Any thoughts I am curious to hear, or in our case, read...

I was in an old dungeon once with all kinds of old torture devices and very (disturbing usually) explicit explanations on how they were used, and the stocks were there and it did say that among other things, people's feet were tickled and it was considered part of the punishment. It wasn't necessarily supposed to be TORTURE, but more humiliating. People would also throw rotten fruit and garbage at these people. So I guess kinda yes and kinda no there. I also read a book called Know-It-All or something that said ancient...somebody's lol used to tie down a person and dip his (maybe her, too) feet in saltwater and have a goat lick them..they'd repeat this until the person died..i'm not sure what they'd die of..suffocation? Anyway, the idea was that the goat would eventually start licking the skin raw, and i'm assuming that's where the torture part came into play.

Torture in China

I posted this response many years ago. There may be no direct evidence but if you look at Chinese Justice at the time it would make sense. The only way to get a conviction was to have the accused confess. Any means necessary to achieve this was allowed. However, if the accused died the magistrate in charge of the case would be killed.
