Afraid to tell?

I've been here some time now... and every now and then some of us pop up with happy faces telling everybody that they have told their love partner/spouse/friend or similar relationship about his/her fetish. But for some time now I feel so normal talking with any people about it.

For example let me tell you a story about my first day at faculty. I entered, found a girl that is in the same course I am and we talked for quite a while. Day three now and she knows about acarophilia a.k.a. tickle fetish from day one and she is ok about it. My friends in ex high school are in the same manner, some even jealous about not being so unique.

So my question is, why are people so afraid? The worst they can find is a small misunderstanding that would pass like a water under bridge. What do you think?

My friends asked me where I met Karen yesterday and I told them straight up it was a tickling site. Conversation went literally like this:

It's so much easier to just be honest. XD You get odd reactions, but you can't let them get to you. It's no different to somebody wrongly saying "You like the live-action Street Fighter movie? OMG, weirdo."

Jeez I was scared to death to tell. We here in America tend to be much more judgemental about things like that, I've noticed--Senshi's told several people and they've all had the same "Ah. OK, whatevs" type reaction.

My grandmother was just plain out curious😛 Once I calmed down enough to be able to (sorta) talk about it, she wanted to know all about it...that can be really awkward too, unfortunately😛 Luckily, I've never had anyone call me a freak.

It really depends with whom you are talking. Tickling really is either a private or totally spontaneous activity. "Normal" people don't do it. That's why its a fetish. You can bring it up with some friends who you are totally open with. You are not going to discuss it at the table on Easter with your family. That's just the way life is, unfortunately. If not being "normal" is your thing and people expect that from you then you have already prepared people to expect the unexpected from you.

Tickling is rapidly becoming a mainstream fetish so this really is becoming a moot point.

See that wasn't so hard... mine friends even sometimes joke about it... and I must tell it is interesting to listen them ridicule themselves about something they don't know half about...

Well, while I would feel awkward telling my parents... hell, even talking about anything remotely sexual with my parents feels awkward. But among my friends, my kinky side is pretty common knowledge. And people kinda like me for it, and most envy my creativity. Hell, people sometimes came to me for advices😀

I've told some people about my foot fetish but not about tickling. Most people i know are aware that i like tickling simply because i'm always tickling them. They never say anything negative either cause their cool with it or they know i'll tickle the crap out of them for saying anything negative. Peer pressure. Fear, not for us, but the fear we know others feel about different things. It is also something not everyone needs to know. Some time ago, I was reading Camille Paglia's then-new book "Vamps and Tramps" (which I'd gotten from the public library) on the bus. A sixtyish woman passed me on her way to her seat after getting on board, and asked me what I was reading. I very reluctantly showed her the cover of the book, expecting an expression of disapproval. Instead, she remarked "I thought of being a tramp, but it cost too much!".

I've never made a secret of it, mainly because I didn't know it was a fetish. It's always been natural to me, my dad was a great tickler when I was young and would spend hours tickling my feet. He would 'write' letters or numbers on my feet and that was I learned how to spell and do maths. I now do this with my son and he loves it.
