In the last couple of weeks, I've been bombarded with e-mails that are offering free membership of porno sites. The feature to these that supposedly takes you off their spam list does not work and the spam continues. This e-mail say "if you complain about us to our servers, we will post your contact details and e-mail address on a "known web porn scammers board" for all to see.

Now, the only adult sites I've ever purchased off have been tickling relate ones. Does anyone else know about this? Has anyone else received threatening e-mail like this? According to these cretinous arseholes, I agreed to all of this shite when I agreed to the terms and conditions of a related site that also gave them permission to bombard me with their crappy offers.

Does any other TMF member have any knowledge of these wankers? 😕

I have no information about them, nor have I experienced the dilemma you speak of, but my advise is to email back to them. Tell them that posting your contact information and email address on this board of theirs is illegal (I'm pretty sure it is) and assure them that you will take legal action. Demand that they remove your email from their mailing list. They're trying to intimidate you. It's like a kid dealing with a bully at school. Stand up for yourself.

i get them too

hey jim i've been getting a great deal of porno/sam via e-mail.
but i just delete it! i don't even open their email. could be the same wankers that are hassling you? my advise? report them to your server, and to some law enforcment agency. they are tryng to use black mail, and coersion. thats criminal!
good luck.

I have no problem with e-mailing them and reading them their horoscope, but the mail gets returned by the server because it is not a valid addy, just a spam spew-out point.

By the way Steve, is my server the same people who are my ISP?

I recently found a site that offers free, anonymous, disposable e-mail addresses. Sneakemail.com lets you create a different address for every online service you do business with, then forwards e-mail for all addresses to your real address.

There are several benefits associated with this service. You get all your mailings at one address, instead of having to keep track of multiple web-based addresses. If you decide you no longer want to do business with a company, you can kill the address you gave them and be rid of their mailings. And if you are spammed, it's easy to identify who sold your name and give them hell for it.

After reading all their fine print I decided they were okay and registered with the site. Sneakemail is currently free, though they say they may eventually charge for the service. Anybody else here tried it?

isp

if i am not mistaken,ISP stands for "internt service provider".
so yes your isp, and your server are the same (i think, lol)

Not tried it EQ, but thanks for the tip. I might have a look at that.

I'm sure the jerks who send out garbage are doing the same thing that EQ suggested as a possible solution. While I've never had one threaten me, I've gotten tons of spam over the years. The vast majority of it bounces back when I respond with my standard, "STOP SENDING ME THIS CRAP OR YOU WILL BE REPORTED" So, I know a lot of them are creating addys, sending out their trash and then deleting that addy before people can respond.

Ann

PS - Jim, you might want to try letting them know you're a cop. If they actually get the e-mail, that may make them think twice about messing with you.

Hmmmmmmm............ Internet law wasn't something that we were taught any of, but I'm sure that what you guys are saying is right; even given the difference in laws between the US and the UK.

As or that idea Ann, it might have some mileage. I'll have to think about that, because it could conceivably backfire on me and just encourage them.

well....

Look on the bright side Jim. Come October, you won't need to worry about it!

The rain is pouring down in the graveyard as the assembled mourners huddle together. The vicars open his worn bible and begins reading............

"Dearly beloved. We are gathered here tod.....ermmm, oops. Sorry, wrong service.

Friends, we are here to day to celebrate the sadly very short life of our friend Jim; who tragically passed away this October due to two very traumatic experiences........."

*Everyone's eyes travel to the unconventional X-shaped casket(Needed because of advanced Rigor Mortis)*

"We would have the top of the coffin open, but the expression on the dearly departed's face, would frighten the women and children."

😀 😉 😛 :veryhappy   :cool2: :firedevil :evilha:

The best way to report a spammer is to go to the site they are promoting, trace thier host, and tell/threaten the host about the spam. Most good(?) spammers bounce email off of several anonymous servers in remote countries before it ends up in your inbox, making it untraceable by the email itself.

Also, make your email anonymous in newsgroup postings, and don't forward/receive those long forwarded emails from friends that are excelent sources of addresses for spammers.

I had this problem awhile back as well. I did not do anything about it.....luckily, they quit spammin'.

Glad to hear it. Let's hope that's the case this time too.

I get nonstop emails from the TMF!! Some joker named "Myriads" sends me several e-mails a day. I think he's insane.😀
