Some of you other old timers must remember this show. Alfred Hitchcock Presents premiered October 2, 1955 on the CBS network. In 1962 the name was changed to The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, ending its ten year run May 10, 1965 on NBC. I loved that show as a kid, it was part of the Golden Age of TV. Who can forget the classic opening of that great old show? They don't make em' like that anymore.

Thankfully, Bugs, my folks never missed the show, .... so neither did I. It was truly awesome. A number of the episodes still stand out in my memory.....

Here's a related follow-up question for you..... Everyone remembers the old Twilight Zone shows with its genius creator, Rod Serling,...... but there was a similar show which slightly predated TZone - Do you remember One Step Beyond ? Tales of the weird and unexplained,... often based on true accounts?

Those were the days my friend.

I surely remember The Twilight Zone, another favorite here. Serling was certainly a genius, although Night Gallery did nothing for me. The magic was gone I think. Stiil, he died far too young, at 53 if memory serves. One Step Beyond is new to me, I'll have to look it up.

Have you heard? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/03/alfred-hitchcock-film_n_917728.html

I am a sucker for the black and white. LOVED/LOVE Hitchcock Presents!

I heard this today, what a wonderful discovery. Hitchcock was only 24 when he directed this film, I hope I'll get a chance to see it. I also love good old black and white films and television shows. When Ted Turner tried colorizing classic films it irritated me no end. There is a charm and romance to those films that should not be tampered with.

My favorite episode was when the guy left money to his greedy family but made them wear masks that represented their greed, vanity, etc for 24 hrs before they got a dime.

I remember an episode where a kid at camp keeps making the same one-armed figure over and over. When a counselor finally adds another arm, the kid freaks out. At the end of the episode, dad shows up.......with one arm! Hitchcock Presents was definetley one weird-ass show!

You thought I loved Rebecca?????

Thanks for a "good evening" of memories! I remember if the evildoer in an episode did escape the authorities in the episode, Mr. H. in the final words, always informed the audience that he had been caught later!

It was my 2nd favorite show as a kid, right after Twilight Zone. 😀

"Gooood Eeeeeevvvvening!"

I never got a chance to watch the show as a kid, and as I recall I wasn't that into it. But thank you, TV Land!

I remember one episode which was pretty much a public service announcement. It's the one in which a kid about 8 years old gets hold of his father's revolver. The show ends not with Hitch making his usual macabre wisecracks but with an uncharacteristically serious admonishment to gun owners not to be careless with their weapons while children are present.

I totally remember that episode, Drew,.......... it was made to order for me. I was extra close to my Dad,.... and I ended up working at a summer camp later on. Some of the stuff you go through with the kids,.... whew! And Hitch specialized in the O. Henry endings, did he not?

Not to derail my own thread but O. Henry is a favorite author of mine. It might intrest you to know his house in Austin is still standing.

I liked Alfred Hitchcock.

It is a pity that you can't find shows like that on TV anymore.:sowrong:

Oh man, the show was way before my time, but i just love the intro music. i used to have the theme as my cell phone ring tone, and 9 outta 10 people had no idea where the song was from.
