Well after some thought and tinkering I think I found the solution to the site's stability problem. Mainly, all the attachments stored in the database format have been converted into a file system format. So what that means in simple terms is that I shrunk our 3.5Gb database into a more manageable 44.18Mb size database. Hence, the load generated from the MySQL service has been greatly reduced which will mean greater overall stability.

With the conversion I have nifty stats now for the attachments. The TickleTheater community contains:

• 10,291 Attachments
• 3.2 Gb Total Space
• 7.34 Million Downloads

Good stuff, good stuff.

He obviously didn't want to visit again, and I granted him his wish so there is no need to second guess himself anymore. I'm just laughing because how much it's going to suck he's not going to be able to enjoy the tens of thousands of quality attachments with new posted material everyday any longer.
