It's a shame when anyone dies so young, but especially a guy who started a trend that's raised a lot of money for ALS research;

With all the Stupid Trends that go on with Social Media, it's great that the Ice Bucket Challenge has become such a Big Hit.

my facebook is completely engulfed with these challenges. I too often despair at the amount of crap, hoaxes, unfunny photos, challenges etc that are shared and indulged on social media by people who should be clever enough to know better, but somehow this ice bucket thing has got me interested.

I also read on a news site that a young lad had died in an incident linked to this challenge. I wouldn't have though a simple bucket of ice would have caused a death - it's no different from jumping in the ice pool at an aqua spa, but maybe someone embellished the challenge and took it to a new level.

Certainly this craze is more harmless then some of the recent drinking challenges etc.

I also like that I am seeing a raft of really quite famous people doing it, as well as people I know personally.

yes exactly, I was expecting the story to read that he had died from an illness, for which he started the craze in order to raise money to cure/treat the illness for himself and others. I was surprised to learn that he wasn't ill at all.
