When a baseball game becomes the most-watched show in the history of television you'll have an argument. Football is king.

Football is king? Then let's see football play 162 games a year. Or are they just a bunch of wusses. I already know the answer. I mean you can't touch a QB without getting a 15 yard penalty.

That's obviously an exageration... since there's these things called SACKS that in order to get you have to touch the QB...

Unlike in Basketball, who are the real wussies of sports, you can't touch them in anyway or you get a penalty... Just thought i'd mention that..

Gentlemen, gentlemen. Save your good stuff for tomorrow night. Call in, Id love to have these discussions on the radio show.

Is it? I don't know. I have seen QB's get hit in the 70's and the 80's and early 90's. Now if they got hit today like they did back then...a 15 yard flag will follow. That is a fact. I have watch football for a very long time and quite frankly...they are pansies playing the game today compared to yester-year.

as compared to baseball where no one gets hit? and i notice all the people who are supporting baseball ignored my post about sell outs and sales.. but thats ok just shows you dont have a real argument

I did not ignore it, just want to save the good stuff for the radio show.

Feel free to call in/listen in. It will be a great discussion, but even better if some of you all come on over and give us your opinions.

I see people get sacked all the time without a penalty. But sure there are pentalties when you hit a QB depending on how you hit them. If you face mask the QB, that's a penalty, if you go for his legs, that's a penalty (I think), And if you hit him after he thru the ball and it didn't look like you were about to hit him anyways, that's a penalty...

But alot of penalties are caused by good offense. The people trying to get to the QB is held back for a certain amount of time so the the person has to work harder to get to the QB and ends up working too hard and losing his cool, causing a penalty. But anyways, there are plenty of sacks that happen. You should go go check peoples records after a weekend to see how many sacks happened.. I'm sure you do not watch every play of every single game that happens.

Somebody needs to read a little better. People supporting baseball did replay to your posts about selling out. Obviously you're the one that ignored their responses becuase you think you're right and wont' except our reasons for baseball not selling out.

NFL, and its not even close
Really? And your facts to prove your point is what? Is it the 73,000,000 fans that go to watch baseball all over the country that makes it not close? As far as the All-Star Game, I don't watch the All-Star game in ANY of the sports so that number doesn't surprise me.

The amount of time that a league has been established doesn't figure into the equation, son. A pastime is just an interest of a person and people are more interested in football than any other sport in this country.
Yeah Fiend it does. It is called HISTORY! Baseball has had characters and record breakers LONG before the NFL was even in existance. Also...I am not your son. I am probably old enough to be your father.

If we are being honest people dont care about baseball anymore. This years all star game was the least watched ever, last years world series also the least watched ever
Where as football in the past 5 years has broken the most watched superbowl record 3 times. All football games are also soldout, (except the Jaguars) whose fans have realized are moving so they have lost intrest. Its clear people care about the NFL the most
All football games are sold out except the Jaguars...your statement is flawed. Go and investigate and call the show tonight. I watch baseball. I honestly care about baseball more than any other sport. But I am a HUGE football fan and HUGE Hockey fan. I will watch baseball over all those sports if they were on all at once. So to say people don't care tells me you either like to be the mouthpiece for the entire World or you dont get out often and find out what people like by talking to them.
Let me ask a question...how do you know they broke records the past five years? based on what? Did a survayer call your house and ask what you were watching at that moment? Or is it the Nielson rating which is in one house and basis it on 10,000 homes. So if one house is watching a hot dog eatting contest on Super Bowl Sunday they say that 10,000 people are watching the hot dog eatting contest.

The ratings are NOT accurate. It is that simple. It is a guess. So if your facts are based on ratings from Nielson...it is a glorified guess. :munch:

A pastime is defined as "a diversion that occupies one's time and thoughts," "a hobby or interest that is undertaken for pleasure or relaxation, often in one's spare time," or "an activity or interest that takes somebody's mind off more routine or serious things."

actually its based on ESPN telling me so, but im sure you will say they lie right?

ALL teams in the NFL in 2009 sold out every game, except the following. The bills who sold out 4 games, the Chargers who sold out 6, and the Jaguars who sold out 2.. So there were 12 total games in the NFL out of a possible 256 were not sold out.

baseball has 162 games not 169

and since you mention the Yankees and they do have the most sellouts in basball

The attendance at the new Yankee Stadium dropped 13% during the ’09 season. The new stadium itself seats less people than the old stadium did. The Yankees high ticket prices had a big impact on it as well. They couldn’t forsee the economy going down like that, so it’s hard to really blame them. They lowered a bunch of the higher ticket prices for next year.

The Yankees had only seven sellouts this year, and drew a total of 3,719,358 million over the 81 home games during the regular season. The Yankees made the postseason this year, so they will be able to sell a ton more tickets to fans who are hungry for this playoff run. You can bank on them selling out every game during the postseason.

they had 7 sellouts in all of 2009, yeah they are doing great.. last year their attendance dropped 13%, while baseball as a whole dropped 6%

The Texas Rangers,Pittsburgh Pirates, and Florida Marlins are currently contemplating sales of the teams or filing for bankruptcy (which the Rangers have already filed for)

So the country as a whole doesn't care about baseball, and NFL is easily king

and all of that is based on research which took all of 10 minutes to find

actually its based on ESPN telling me so, but im sure you will say they lie right?

Is this the same ESPN that stated that Eli Manning had a separated a couple of years ago? After the Giants said they didn't know what they were talking about, ESPN called the Giants liars. Is that the ESPN? The ESPN who claimed they knew MORE than the Giants medical staff. That ESPN? Is that the ESPN we are talking about? The same ESPN who rather make the story about them than to report the news? You mean that ESPN?

The Fallen Angel said:

And the Lions here in Detroit, ESPN is reporting sold out all 8 games? Like I said, your statement is flawed. Oakland did not sellout all their games either. So please post when you bring FACTS to the table. My information comes from Elias Sports Bureau. Which is a lot more reliable than ESPN. Bring you thoughts to the radio show.

Radio show is on-going. Hoping to see if anyone wants to voice their opinions live on the air with TF4F and I.

It did. Would have been great for some more dissenting opinions, but when people listen in the archives they will understand what we said.
