It is extremely rare I actually start a topic, but I think this is a good one. I base some of my decisions and philosophies in life on quotes and ideas I have collected over the years. I was wondering on some of your favorite quotes or ones you think may be important. One of mine is:

"You can be a student of your life, or a victim of your life..... it's your choice"

-Dr. Michael Roche

Pawz

Hmmmmmm, interesting. I do not recall this Dr. Rocher but I do remember Napoleon Bonaparte once musing:

"It is worse than a crime; it is a blunder."

which Frenchmen are still quoting today for any number of reasons.

Heh, Dr. Roche was a professor I had in college. Not too well known in the regular society, but a very wise man in some ways.

Here's another:

"Stand up for what is right.......even if you have to stand alone."

-author unknown

One good quote I live on is by a man named "Pig Killer" in Mad Max. And he says "Wherever you go, There you are."

Okay here is another one:

"America is one long expectoration."

-- Oscar Wilde

How about this one:

"It is the sick oyster which possesses the pearl."
J.A. Shredd, Salt From My Attic

My Favorite Quote/Philosophy...Pawz? Muhahaha!

Great quotes, Pawz! Roche is fine study, to be sure...and now for mine...*Wicked Evil Grin*😱

"Every time you don't use your head...your body suffers."

One of my personal favorites, which I've found quite true:

For all the happiness mankind can gain
Is not in pleasure, but in rest from pain.

Dryden, The Indian Emporer, IV,1

my current favorite

From John Maxwell's 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership:

People don't care care how much you know until they know how much you care....

He who will not reason is a bigot; he who cannot is a fool; and he who dares not is a slave.

Sir William Drummond, Academical Questions

From George Orwell's book Animal Farm "All animals are equal Some animals are more equal than others" Another favorite quote of mine is "Everybody need something to believe in.I believe I'll have another beer" I don't know who came up with that but I love it
Of course my favorite one "SON OF JOR-EL KNEEL BEFORE ZOD"

Every Tickler should live by these:

"Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage."

Possibilities

Within me is infinite power, Before me is endless possibility, Around me is boundless opportunity..... Why should I fear?

Seize every opportunity to tickle, tickle, tickle without hesitation!

How about this one . . .

"I'll never say never to always. I'll never say always to none."

--- Charles Manson

For Tina

Years ago, there was a brilliant girl named Tina. We went to college together, we met in the computer lab she worked in and became friends. She had a confidence problem, though, so I made it my mission in life to make her independent. I should have been more careful of what I asked for--her first independent act was getting rid of me! 🙂

We were friends for years, in love for months, and then friends for years again before drifting apart. Once she cried because of pain someone caused her years before we met, and she apologized for crying in front of me. In an inspired moment, I said the line at the bottom of every one of my posts.

"Never apologize for feeling, and never be afraid to feel."

She asked, "Who said that?", wiping her eyes and smiling.

I answered, with a deliberately blank look on my face, "I did. It's me, Richard..."

Some quotes from the Joker himself ^_^

"I'm crazy enough to take on Batman, but the IRS? Nooooooo thank you." Joker

"Well, drown the kids and shoot the neighbors!" Joker

"Hey!!! Keep the boat in the water!!!" Joker

I don't know who said it but...

"If I had all the money I've spent on booze...I'd buy more booze."

A rare serious quote from the master of wry humour:

"It is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world, and moral courage so rare."

-- Mark Twain

My favorite quote, even though I don't know who said it is:

Life is a comedy for those who think, but a tragedy for those who feel.

Correction

This quote has two versions listed, both by Horace Walpole (1717-1797):

Life is a tragedy for those who feel, but a comedy for those who think.

The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Kewl. Bored, browsing. Came upon this thread just now. Here are a couple of quotes I came up with which I have deemed "Maverickisms" 😛

Life Is Fatal.

If you wish to inspire change, you must be willing to fight for what you believe in.

Hear with your ears. Listen with your mind.

People will accuse you of thinking you know everything when you force them to realize that they don't.

Some excellent stuff here.

One of my favorites:

Never try to teach a pig to sing... it wastes your time and annoys the pig.

How about this one:

"A clown is funny in a circus ring, but what would be the normal reaction to opening a door at midnight and finding the same clown standing there in the moonlight?"

-- Lon Chaney Sr., c. 1924

Why do they call it the human race? Do they actually think someone's going to win.

Another quote I thought was particularly good was this one:

Viewjade: the opposite of Dejaview: The sinking feeling that you have never done anything remotely like this before.

"In order to say I love you, one must first learn to say the 'I'."

Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead
