Animal Abuse On Youtube (Something I'll never understand)

I used to kill insects that I'd find in my home, "house centipedes" and silverfish especially. Though smaller, and much less approachable and cuddly than a dog or a cat, it is still a living creature.

For a few years now, I've been practicing Buddhism and Taoism (the principles, not the deity worship) and since have ceased to kill or harm even the smallest, most seemingly insignificant creature. It may be unsightly, or repulsive, yet it is living and I have no business disturbing it so long as it is no threat to me.

What I find even more repulsive than hundred-legged worms crawling around my home, is the fact that people find justification in torturing or killing another living creature based on size alone. In a way, it's similar to the "out of sight, out of mind" philosophy in the psychology of killing from great distances (dropping bombs from planes, and sniping kills for example) you just don't feel that bad about killing a victim you can't connect with.

Just because something is smaller, less intelligent, or of a different species does not necessarily make it any less alive, or any less able to feel pain or fear. The worth of a life is all subjective anyway -- to another race somewhere in the universe, our level of intelect or significance may be analogous to how a dog's may seem to us, but that doesn't change how our experience would feel, being tortured or killed by them.

It makes me sick that people do this.

I know to a troll who's trying desperately to get attention it's a joke. But some people do take this seriously. You could try and respect that, but instead you go out of your way to pull crap like this. Crack jokes and simply show everyone how much of a troll you are. What's the point in arguing with your militant nature when it comes to this subject material. Other people are making fun in nonsequitar fashion, and the best you are doing is acting sanctimonious in the process because, heaven forbid, on an internet forum, people go off topic.

I honestly don't care about any of those animals being thrown off bridges, or being lit on fire, or any of that. It's not going to rattle me. I've seen US soldiers decapitated by fascists. I've seen people committing suicide. At the end of the day, I don't really give a damn. I'm going to sleep just fine. I'd actually sleep much better if I knew that, right now, they were running 'cruel tests' on animals to find a cure for cancer.

You're dealing with a culture that is so removed and solipsistic that you could sit at the train station, watch someone get blasted by a train, and the reaction would be pandering to sympathy for what a viewer had to see.

Nobody is truly saying that violence against animals for entertainment purposes is good, or that they agree with it. At the same time, you have to grow up and stop acting butthurt at a few harmless jokes. It's not even off color stuff. It's people laughing and making one liners. You don't like it? Don't read it. Add them to your ignore list. But please, don't act like this thread somehow should transcend all others, that everyone should maintain a level of decorum like this is a candle light vigil.

I can see many of the points you're making, but the fact is this subject obviously resonates very strongly with him and some others, myself included. People have the right to go off topic, or say what they want to say on a public forum without being policed for it, but you could have a little more respect for his feelings. Saying things like, "I'd actually sleep much better if I knew that, right now, they were running 'cruel tests' on animals to find a cure for cancer" in this situation is really not necessary.

I'm not trying to "scold" you, or tell you that you can't speak your mind, but it would deffinately be cool if you didn't have to try to get under his skin. You've voiced your feelings, so instead of adding fuel to the fire, why not just leave the thread alone if you continue to disagree with it?

tequila! and Meangry? Have you ever heard of this guy named Headsnap? I haven't seen this guy in a while. I don't know if he posts here or not anymore. I don't know if he was banned. Frankly I don't know anything about the guy other then his posts. This guy was an attention seeker. Like you two. He came into peoples posts claiming he was extreme. He told some guy how he could kill himself when he was feeling depressed and wanting to take his own life. He told people he didn't care that a girl lost her life, that he was more concerned with the traffic flow.

He said all that garbage. And you know why? Because he was like you two. I don't know if he really cared or not. Frankly I don't care if he did. It didn't change how I felt. But I do know this. He was an attention seeker who wanted people to believe he was some incredibly cool, unfeeling person. And as far as I know he came and went and I could have been the first person in months or years to mention him.

That's the truth of things around here. You guys try so desperately hard to paint yourselves a certain way and in the end you, like me and the rest of us, are simply user names.

It was actually youtube. I couldn't find the solider throwing the puppy off the cliff or the end result for the dog being thrown off the bridge. You don't see the impact but you see that poor animal crying on the ground.

Part of me is serious; after all, the Vick situation went the way it did because of the illegal gambling ring, the dog torture was essentially secondary throughout the entire process. It's a nice way to frame the man as this piece of shit, but the media was moving in this direction regardless with the calls for Atlanta to get rid of him for having a makeshift bong on a flight. He wasn't suspended for dogicide, nor was he sentenced to jail time because of it. It was gambling. Man did his time, so PETA needs to grow up with it.

Most of it, though, is not serious. I think circumstances in that case paint a too simple picture for people to get invested in, but I'm not for dude slaughtering animals in his crib.

I would never say anything disrespectful about the US marines in their entirity, but one might question this particular person's decision to join the marines, considering what that job entails.

As for those kids. We have a man over here named Ian Huntley, I don't know if Americans are familiar with him. He was a janitor at a school, one day he took two 10 year old girls home with him and drowned them in the bath. Turns out when he was a kid he had a puppy, and he strangled it.
