Animated shows, immature?

I have an animation fetish, so I thought I would admit it here.

Simpsons, Home Movies, Family Guy, South Park, Futurama... oh crap, just about anything that's animated, I love it. Why? Am I immature? Did being raised on Speed Racer and Clutch Cargo stunt my television-viewing growth? Well, sure I always loved Nova, National Geographic, Cosmos, and others of that ilk, but my love for animated shows seems to overshadow my love for more intellectual pursuits. So, again, immature?

Dude all of those are heavily adult oriented....no immaturity there at all...

:mhorns:

All the shows you mentioned are adult shows written as such. But beyond that, there is nothing wrong with animation in general. Toy Story, Monster's Inc, etc are all awesome! Saw Kung Fu Panda(funny as hell) last week and seeing Wall*E next week. It's all entertainment. I'll watch cartoons till I die and proud of it. Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. :bouncybou

"Grow up.". i got tired of hearing those two words from a father that fucked off in life more than i did. i got tired of hearing them from teachers, from over-bearing relatives, and random people that saw me buying Transformers at the age of 20.

screw that noise. i've seen what growing up entails: boring old, day-to-day routines that end with you dying an unhappy old man.

hell, i just got done watching all but the last three shows of the third season of Avatar, i still look forward to new Transformers episodes, and i even watch Power Rangers from time to time just to really feel like a kid.

some maturity is good. responsibility for yourself, focus, discipline...all those things are needed to live life. but becoming a boring man with a tedious life that consists of work, sleep and shit everyday? to hell with that.

now, if you'll excuse me, imma gonna go listen to some Dr. Steel and watch anime.

Exactly. So are like three quarters of the cartoons being aired today. Sure, the kids can enjoy them as well, but there's jokes between the lines that go over the kids' heads that are clearly targeted at the adult audience.

An' ennybuddy hoo sez dat im immachure 4 watchin' cartoonz iz a big, fat, poopyhead. Oh yeah, that's right; I went there. 😀

North American cartoons are rarely aimed at a serious, adult audience, which is a pity. There are numerous adult (equivalent to prime time) animated shows in Europe and the Orient.

Animation is just another way of telling a story. It's not any less "credible" than live-action storytelling ... or books ... or whatever.

True , cartoons & whatnot certainly have that stigma of being "immature" , & most of them are probably more geared towards children , but there's nothing saying that stories that are animated can't be adult-oriented ... & those that are shouldn't necessarily be viewed as inferior.

Enjoy your 'toons , dude.

I think it's really important to have so-called "immature" things in one's life. Cartoons are great for that. They relieve stress because their funny and the best part is they remind you of being a kid again. Cartoons rock and I am never afraid to admit I watch just as much kid stuff as adult stuff. :roflmao:

Wat do you mean, animation fetish? Like you're sexually arroused by animated shit?

Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park...these animated shows are very much adult shows.
