"—Let me see if I’ve got this straight. You’re saying the challenge is basically just sitting still and doing absolutely nothing for a little over a couple of hours on camera; that just by taking part, I’ve already got the prize guaranteed; and that everyone inevitably ends up completing it… I can’t make any sense of it, but if you’re that eager to hand me the money, I’m more than happy to take part.
—Seems like you’ve more or less got it right. But just to be clear, once you start, you have to finish it—everything in a… hmm, perfectly controlled environment, so we can monitor your reactions while applying a… little stimulus that ramps up in intensity cycle by cycle. And if your response goes above the allowed threshold, you’d get a small time penalty.
—How long are we talking about?
—Three seconds.
—Pfff… that’s nothing. Bring me that contract and start getting the money ready. I accept the challenge!
—I like that enthusiasm; I’m sure our viewers will too. Now that all the legal stuff’s out of the way, let me show you the whole setup, and a very special little box I’ve got ready to make the next ten 20-minute cycles, or however long you want to extend them… By the way, have you ever heard of the Babinski reflex?"
MUAHAHAHAHA! As you can see, I’ve taken the tickle-box model I used in the “Loyalty Box” setup, and besides giving it a bit of a paint touch-up and some minor tweaks, I decided to animated it.
From the little conversation snippet I shared, you probably have a rough idea of the mechanics behind this little contraption—but just in case, here’s a handy guide:

From the little conversation snippet I shared, you probably have a rough idea of the mechanics behind this little contraption—but just in case, here’s a handy guide:
- The contestant voluntarily agreed to participate and climbed into the box fully aware of what awaited her.
- As I’m sure you’ve already guessed, she must endure 10 full cycles of 20 minutes each of relentless foot tickling.
- With every cycle, the tickling ramps up in intensity.
- The straps holding her toes are fitted with sensors—if they detect a tug that’s too strong, 3 extra seconds get added to that cycle.
- There’s no way out of the box except by completing the entire program… penalty time included.
- The prize? $10,000. It’s hers, guaranteed—but how long it takes her to get out and enjoy it… is entirely up to her.
