well first of all... YAY FOR FIRST POST!!! was a long time lurker that finally had a chance to sit down and join the community of posters!!

on to the real reason for the post... i recently have established the fact that i am going to otakon!!! and was wondering if anyone else here is as well?

Otakon is less fun than it used to be. As one who's attended the con a number of times, I'd say go to a smaller one if you can. Anime Mid-Atlantic in Richmond, VA is one close by that is smaller. You get a nicer feel, and less crowd absurdity, from a smaller one. But, nonetheless, you'll likely enjoy Otakon. Its dealer's room, for one, is hard to beat.

Elfen Lied, yes, epic! Haven't seen the others, but since you mention them together with such an awesome anime I will definitely check them out! 😀

Also, Code Geass. Best anime I've seen so far, althought I am admittedly a major noob in this particular field. XD

I only like a couple of anime's. Naruto is my favorite, great all around story, great action, music, characters. I also like watching Bleach every now and then, but Naruto is still the best.

Aside from a few animes like Vampire Hunter D and Cowboy Bebop, I find anime to be a magnanimously banal waste of my time.

I SO wish I was going to Otakon this year but with all the other trips I have planned this is the one I had to pass up on. Which makes me sad I had outfits and cosplay ideas all set to go. Seriously Icould pull off bubble gum pick hair for a day or too...right? I was kinda bummed I can't make it since I haven't been in a few years. Hope you have a good time

I look stupid carrying a bokken and i just plain wouldn't make it as a goth lolita, cat girl or Uniformed otaku, so i don't attend anime cons. Not to mention, those types of cons are a wasteland for landscape artists but i've heard they're alot of fun. Congrats to you for your future visit.

As for anime itself, i get into it, i get out of it. I'm having a fit of it right now, just finished watching Full Moon Wo Sagashite, Ai Yori Aoshi and Gravitation, all three disgustingly adorable and full of "aww.. damn that's adorable", especially the last one. It's like animated soap operas! I'm in the middle of Marmalade Boy right now, though i'm not real sure i'm going to make it through this one. I'm also beginning to read a rather amusing manga called "Nana to Kaoru":

Kaoru is a 17-year old virgin who has a SM fetish. He always dreams about a SM relationship with his childhood friend Nana. One day Kaoru's mom decides to hide all his SM toys so he'll study for a change, by asking Nana to hide his toys. Nana finds the leather one-piece that Kaoru bought and tries it on but she accidentally locks it and doesn't have the key!

I'm a huge anime fan myself. My writing and comics are based around the concept. I've never went to a convention before in my life. I might be convinced to go if I could pick up a few manga's. Yeah I'd probably treat a convention as a bookstore.

I'm not going, but it's something I've thought about in the past. I do love anime, though. Gundam, Hellsing, Evangelion, One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, Rurouni Kenshin, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni... all awesome. 😀

I'm not going, but anyone who is interested in anime and pirates should watch One Piece (just avoid the 4kids dub. Watch the Japanese version or the Funimation dub). The story is epic, the characters are likable, it never really gets old, and the overall story keeps building and building into something greater.

i myself was once a hugeeeee fan, slowly got out of it, and im starting back in, my 2 older siblings were already attending and looking to cut back on prices.... so i figure there is a first time for everything right?? and i need a vaca....
