I heard about this from my meeting this past Tuesday in my social group for people on the Autism spectrum. Two male teens in Ohio tricked another male teen who's Autistic into participating in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. However instead they dumped feces, saliva and urine on him. Here's the link about this if you want more information, it's http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/04/autistic-boy-ice-bucket-feces_n_5767540.html.

I am very mad & upset that these teens would take advantage of someone like this in this matter . I think that the world, especially this country, needs to become a more Asperger/Autistic friendly. Look forward to your responses on this, thanks.

Would this have been any less tragic if it wasn't somebody that was autistic? I don't get the connection here.

Well it would've been bad for anyone but what makes this worse is that if you know anything about Autism, they tend to be naive and trusting. They probably didn't sense that anything bad would happen. In other words, those two other boys knew this kid had Autism so they took advantage of him. It's that simple, it's not rocket science.

That was a truly despicable thing to do. :sowrong:
Some people are just plain rotten to the core.

I really wish I could say what I like about the people who did this on this thread.

I don't know what the :firedevil hell that's supposed to mean. Are you advocating for bullying? If so, I don't see anything funny about what they did.

I do not advocate bullying. I f I said what I want to about the bullies,it will break the rules of the site. If you wish to know how I feel, then PM me.

Is that true? Did they single him out because he had autism? I did not see that mentioned in the story. Rocket science or not, what we see here is two idiots pranking a third person. Which is repulsive and wrong regardless of who that third person is.

But to start banging the drum about societies ills towards autism because someone that happened to be autistic was victimized is unhelpful. Anyone can get pranked, and there are lots of people that are naive and trusting. Had the article mentioned that these two idiots specifically singled this boy out because he was autistic - then yes, its still heinous, and should be touted as wrong. But two idiots doing something shitty does not a pogrom against autism make.

I just think that it's bad for this to happen to anyone, ESPECIALLY AN AUTISTIC PERSON. Reason it's worse for the Autistic student is that a non-Autistic child might have not gone along with it because their instincts might have swayed them from not doing participating in this horrid event. I think that especially this country is trying to put the awareness about Autism out there, that's really my point.

Let me just give an example, if someone had nastily pulled a prank on someone who was in a wheelchair like dumping crap on their head just like what happened to this poor guy, most people would be angry about that too.

I agree. Awareness about autism is always a good thing. However, I think anyone can get pranked at anytime. My point is, what these two fucktards did is wrong no matter who the victim was. But I do not think this incident should condemn society about how they think about autism. Generally, folks with mild autism or Aspbergers are really not distinguishable from anyone else on sight. So unless these two fools had intimate knowledge that this boy indeed had autism (assuming these fools even understand what autism is), they might have just randomly pranked him. The story does not say.

I have found it very helpful when I have met folks with Aspbergers or mild Autism that they mention that they do if there seems to be difficulty in understanding each other. BUT I am not suggesting at all that this poor boy should have done that, nor would need to. Its obvious these two assholes were hell bent to do what they did regardless of who they roped into it.

I agree with you in that they may not have picked this boy out simply because he had Autism, however, I think it's more likely than not, that he was singled out because he was Autistic. I suppose I have to say that I am particularly sensitive to this topic because I have Asperger's myself. I was born in 1972 when all they knew about Autism back then was the Classic kind. So, for the most part, I grew up where most people either didn't understand me or misunderstood me but I didn't know I had a legitimate learning disability. My parents even had a hard time understanding me. To make a long story short, I was finally diagnosed at 34. When that happened, I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulder.

🙂 I know that feeling very well. I am pleased that you were able to find some answers and some sense of peace.

I don't know you very well but I am surprised you know how I feel so well. You don't seem like the type of person to have that problem. Thanks for the support though.

I've heard that difficulty interpreting social cues, or "reading" other people, is a typical characteristic of persons on the spectrum. Is that also one of your points here, that maybe the teen who was literally dumped on might have missed something in the way the other two boys approached him? That is, if autistic people don't pick up well on sarcasm or non-verbal communication they may be more easily deceived, and perhaps the warning bells didn't go off for this boy, as they would for most "normal" people, if the two others had asked him to do this with overly cloying tones of voice and barely-concealed smirks and snorts.

Just speculating, but I'd be interested in more of your particular insights.

Did this happen again? Or is this the story from a few weeks ago? I know it happened then, and I think Drew Carey offered to donate a bunch of money to the search to finding the people who did it or something. At least I think it was him.

That is a terrible thing to happen to anyone, but they no doubt targeted this kid because of his disability.

Well that was my point that "reading" social cues is difficult for people on the Autism spectrum. I think you hit the nail right on the head. A non-Autistic person might have picked up on their nasty intentions. You're on the right track.

I am not sure but I think it did happen a few weeks ago. Just heard about it on Sept. 23rd.

White cowards are white and scared. That's why.

Why is it that the "survival amongst the fittest" crowd always run to sanctity or to sanctify their own excuses whenever their backs are against the wall, and then turn around and talk shit when they think they are in the clear?

I wrote the book on cold-blooded. You don't impress me.
