another goofy question. when you turned old enough to drive, what was your first car?

A 1974 Pontiac Ventura. I haven't graduated much... I now drive a 1979 Pontiac Bonneville.

got my license in 2000.. got a 2001 intense blue dodge dakota sport 2door.. and i still drive it today.. perfect for me myself and i that i drive everywhere

I didn't get a liscence until I was 18. My brother is a year older and Dad said he couldn't afford insurance for both of us, so I had to wait. The following year, 1976 I drove my first car, handed down to me from my brother. A '66 Chevy Impala. That thing was a freakin tank. Burned regular gas. I mean regular LEADED gas, not the "regular unleaded" gas that is mandatory these days.

This was also back in the days before MADD Mothers came along and screwed the pooch for everybody. I can remember getting extremely drunk and driving home from Ned's Pizza in Rockville. I was screeching corners, burning rubber, all at 2 in the morning. Another time I drove with a buddy into the city and got drunk on Southern Comfort. I was driving the Impala north on Wisconsin Avenue. I didn't even slow down as I hurled out the window!

My first vehicle was my dad's old 1964 Dodge Pickup truck, very similar to the one here:

I started driving in 1977 and drove for a year before he sold it for $100. It had a 3-speed shift on the steering column, 2 bucket seats, AM radio, and a rear diamiond plate bumper that withstood several bumps. I wanted to Bondo the truck and get it to look nice but pops didn't want to put any money in it.

A 1974 AMC Pacer. It was perfect for the drive-in and with those style bumpers it was like driving a tank.

Heh, by the time I was a teenager, all the laws were already in place. But I generally ignored all of them.

hummmm Got my driver license in November 98 2 months after 18 and ariving at college.

I got my mom´s car which was a small japanese one, 92 Nissan Micra 1.3

We still have this car today and I still drive him to work because it´s a wonder to drive on trafic and to park in small places.

I never found the car pretty or cool but the mechanics are nice and can be trusted. You can´t go wrong with that engine. On the other hand, the car chassis is a mess and the car has a known loose rear that can throw you out of the road in no time if you push it hard on corners. Many people have told me that to drive this car to the limit is almost suicide.....I usually say "naaaaa....that´s when the fun begins".

Fortunatelly I´m still living and the worst accident I had with this car was a crazzy spin followed by a slow hit at strong rails. That was the only time I lost control in a corner and both with rainny weather and a low rear tire which I didn´t noticed 🙁

This car from 92 is still capable of a nice speed on level ground of 160km/h (+-100mph), I´ve been able to get even faster but I admit at this kind of speed the car is no longer safe and even the wind can kill you if you don´t know how to hold it well.

Now I´m on the verge of driving something slightly different 😛

In 1984, I got my first car which was a 1977 orange Chevy Vega. I inherited it over from my dad. I thought it was sooooo god awful ugly but at least everyone knew where I was since it was such an unusual color.

When I was 15, I got a job so I could buy a car by the time I was 17. In 2000, I bought a 1990 Tempo. I loved that car for the first few weeks I had it, but after about 2 years, I beat the crap out of that car. It had so many dents in it, by the time I bought a newer one in 2003, the car was in such bad shape that instead of trading it or selling it in the paper, we just sold it for parts and sent it to the junkyard. It had been spraypainted, kicked, jumped on, and all kinds of crazy things. Because the roof was red, people always referred to it as my "Red-headed step child".

You're so full of it, Rexx. When you were old enough to drive, the planet didn't have gasoline yet. It was all still trees.

Okay, you got me. I lassoed a Brachiasaur and had him pull my chariot, ala Yul Brynner's Ramses. Got a lot of sleep that way.
