First of all, thank you for the last two issues: I followed advice and resolved both of them.

Ok, new issue:

Having finally transferred a ton of pix to yahoo photos, I have been informed they are closing up shop in Sept. I have a few options which are:

flickr, shutterfly, photobucket, and snapfish

I haven't a clue about any of them, so your comments would be greatly appreciated. Please keep in mind, I don't want them to be easily accessible to the general public or even close friends. I want storage and be able to send to friends. Thank you.

i like Photobucket simply for the fact that you can upload massive amounts of pics in one fell swoop.

Sounds good. Can you select one or two and send them via email to other people (no making fun of the obvious dunce here)?

you can send post the pics and do one of the following:
send them as an URL link in e-mail or Instant Messages
an HTML tag for blogs or sites like MySpace
or as an image code, doing what Meems does with the siggy pics she has made many of us, like so...

Yahoo photos is going away???

Yeah. I went to upload some pix into the various folders, etc there was an announcement. According to the notice, if I don't transfer by Sept something, they will be deleted they offered a the four options. I guess I could do all four........

Imageshack is good in as far as what it does; I use it often myself. It's not very good for a revisitable "album" type format involving large numbers of images, though. You'd have to maintain a catalogue yourself, and the file names are randomly generated by imageshack itself, involving random digits. Overall very cumbersome for the lazy amongst me... er, us. 😀

Well, crap. I guess I'm in the same boat then...

Has anyone on here tried Picasa?

Hey maybe it's just me they are trying to get rid of..........but if I figure out what to do, I will share that info with you, ok.

Buggy, imagageshack from not one of the option---not to say I can't use it, but the ones yahoo offered and claim to be easy transfers are the ones I mentioned.

Flickr is amazing if you want anything more than an online photo dump. I tend to use photobucket for quick one-offs, but the site design and interface are kind of lacking.

Example of stuff you can do with flickr (had this open in another window as I came across your thread) - http://www.flickr.com/photos/n1c0star/sets/72157600335006271/show/

Wow, you are the second person today to sing the praises of Flickr and just a brief glance at it, it claims to have privacy control which is huge for me. Thanks dear. Did you read this, denver??
