I just read that theres several movies in the making "recreating" the whole 9/11 tragedy. How fuckin sick can you get??? The damn media has to cash in and make a buck on anything tragic that happens and cash in on people's grief and sorrow. I hate the masses with a passion! Always have..but this just kinda reminds me why and angers the hell out of me! What's others opinions on it?

Don't worry too much about it... The massive backlash caused by the first one to be released will likely kill the others before they ever come out.

Wow.. that's bad news. I can remember Speilberg swearing he would never make any 9/11 movies. I figured with such a big guy saying no to shameless greed, many others in showbiz would follow suit. Sigh...

What's even more pathetic about these upcoming 911 movies......they'll probably have Aston Kutcher, Jessicca Simpson and Paris Hilton star in them. And the movies will have cash tie-ins with Coke, M and M's, and Burger King.

How is this different from making a movie about Pearl Harbor or the Holocaust...or, indeed, any tragic event taken from the headlines? Or Flaubert writing a novel (Madame Bovary) inspired by the suicide of a local doctor's wife?

It's not any different at all, but maybe more time needs to pass before it happens?

I think we NEED a good 9/11 movie. If it can capture the emotions of the day, the feelings of those who felt they have no choice but to commit such an atrocious act, the pain of the victims and the bereavement of the families, then maybe it will help a lot of people understand that terrible day.

I agree with Ik70, I think Hollywood should wait a few more years before making any movies about 9-11.

You are right...but Hollywood will not make that kind of movie. They are more interested in special effects and computer generated crap than a really well written story withwell developed characters and good actors. (who know how to act) portraying them...

They produce what sells at the box office.....mostly mindless crap....

Oh, no. It's gonna star Adam Sandler...or better yet, Keanu Reeves. The director? Wes Craven.

dskodj's absolutely right. American Pop Culture wears very thin when you have an intelligence above that of a titley wink.

The Titanic, The Civil War and WWII were used as backdrops for love stories, and The Hindenberg was the cardboard cutout for a political thriller. That's how it goes. It's all about the passage of time. I keep waiting for some engaging Great Depression porn.

Jesus, you guys are acting like it'll be an action flick or something. It's just gonna be some long sappy piece of shit with a made up love story and blatant anti-terrorism undertones. There will be no backlash. There will only be crowds of people praising this movie out of sheer sympathy for what its about. You can't stop money making movies like this so just ignore them.

Yep, your 100% right on that and thats pretty much all you can do...and I see mostly everyone does feel the same as I do about this, just putting it in dif words. We all know that regardless of how it turns out..it will be the "criticly aclaimed 5 star movie of the century" and all that bullshit. Slightly off subject...anytime I see a movie advertised like that or raved about by the masses and critics..I usualy pass on it cause 99.9% of the time its a piece o shit. While the 1 star or 2 star films are usualy what should get the 5.

But back on subject, I was well expecting some kind of mass media money making project to come out of this the day it actualy happened sadly. But like a few others were saying..just not this soon after. Its still fresh and for christ sake, we're basicly still at war and dealing with it all with whats going on in the world right now. It would be as bad as them making a big production movie (if that exsisted back then) about world war 1 right as world war 2 was about to start or actualy going on. The masses and mainstream are shit, but all we can do is just ignore like already said. And me? well ill speak my mind and opinions freely like I always have on everything lol

Personally I think it's a sad and pathetic thing to do, even by Hollywood's standards. But they wouldn't be doing it if the consumer didn't have a long track record of buying the pap they turn out.

It's sad, but it's life. The only way to change it is through the consumer.
