Your point?strider said:Other movements do not consider eliminating entire groups of people simply on the basis of them being in that group to be a necessary thing.Communism and Nazism do.
Pick any.Are you talking about the Revolution or the Civil War?
I beg to differ: you *believe* them to be forms of socialism.I can't comment because I don't believe in the left/right scale. They're both forms of socialism.
I'm afraid you are simply ignoring my point.
I understand you like this particular topic, and you are enamored with the notion that those European parties gravitate around a debased form of marxism or another.
Present reality is simply different. You can think otherwise. Reality won't mind.
If you check my previous posts, you'll realize I already expressed my point. Then what do you perceive as being the major differences between the systems in the USSR and Nazi Germany?
It should be added that Nazism *lost*. Germany lost the war, so it never had the chance to cover up for its crimes.
On the other hand USSR won the war, and being the winner, could dictate the rules.
Also, a subtle difference is about whom the regimes cast out: any and all regimes eliminated dissenters on the ground of preserving the well being of the state/kingdom/empire.
Nazi Germany went beyond it, and started eliminating people - even non-dissenters - on the grounds of racial purity.
Of course you can object on this, but I am not going to discuss about revisionism.
This is a radical notion. Most radical ideologies of the 20th century are offshoots of one of those two.
This is a common misconception: the religion of atheism.Yeah, and then it became a religion in its own right.Marxism may look down on religious faith, but I don't know what else to call the idea that something which has never happened is inevitable.
Sorry but I am not going to discuss about this either: you play with semantics, and I've explained my point thoroughly.
Sorry but I disagree again, and for a good reason: you are trying to convince me that left and right wings don't exits. The only difference between Communism and Nazism is what they consider to be the ultimate historical determinant.Their goals and tactics are exactly the same.
But you don't care about left and right wing, so why bother?
Are you trying to further involve me in a stale argument about the tactics of decades old parties?
We speak different political languages.
You speak of Mussolini's sentiments. I speak of present day realities.
European Neo-Communists call themselves Left Wing.
European Neo-Fascists call themselves Right Wing.
You are clearly free to dissent; neither of them will kill you to further their own goals.
