Given all the gloom and bad vibes in the current news, I thought it was time for a distraction. I think we should talk about something we love to wash away the foul taste of all the recent talk about hate and violence. Thus, in the immortal words of the Tick's sidekick: "Ahem. Hello, I'm Arthur and this is my diversion."

I was wondering if there were any fellow fans of comic books on the forum, and if so what they collected. I literally tingle with anticipation of new releases every Wednesday. Here's what's bagged & boarded in my longboxes, according to publisher. Asterisks mark particular favorites:

Time gone by..

20 years ago, it was a mania/addiction. I broke it and delivered thousands of comics to local hospitals...but i do still miss them, especially my Legion Of SuperHeroes...sigh.. Q

I've been collecting comics (well, accumulating comics would be a better term) since I was about five, so I've got more than I know what to do with at this point.

I've had to cut back on the comics I collect a bit lately, but I'm still following a fairly wide variety of comics, to yer mainstream superhero miscellany to stuff like Thieves and Kings, The Adventures of Barry Ween: Boy Genius, Akiko, Stray Bullets, and so on and so forth.

Modern Mythology

I'm a huge comic book freak. I collect from Marvel: Wolverine, X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Spiderman, Daredevil.
DC Comics: The Flash, JLA, Justice League, The Green Lantern, and The Green Arrow. My all-time favorite is The Green Lantern. I collect posters, busts, figures, etc.

I sell them for a living, managing a comic store. Been doing it for a decade and and change. I tend to like just about everything... The longer one does it the wider your tastes get.

You Nerds!

Actually, I don't collect much anymore, but I still have all my X-Men from years past, including the pinnacle of my collection: Giant Size X-Men #1 signed in person by Stan Lee!

Also have a small collection of Spiderman, Batman & Star Wars comics. All the Watchmen. They are nearly worthless, but I was a sucker for Moon Knight, Dazzler and She-Hulk... of course I have as much of Saudelli's 'The Blonde' as I can get! And that manga issue of The Punisher... the tickling one....

But the best read I've had in a long time was The League of Extrodinary Gentlemen! AMAZING!! And I actually went out and bought the classic books from which the characters came - a comic that gets people to read classic books, how often does that happen? Also am into Dark Knight 2, but I don't like it as much as the 1st one....

I usually read Green Lantern,JLA and Superman Ever since the War of the worlds crossover this past summer I just wonder when they are gonna reveal what the real General Zod looks like In the crossover he was in a red containment suit
