😀 Just out of curiousity, Is there anyone here who are or were Doctor Who watchers/fans? 🙂

Hey Rajee, when I was growing up it was my fave show right above Incredible Hulk. Dr. Who has not ran on TV here in several years (since the early 90s). I still have video tapes of some of the episodes I recorded back in the 80s and have watched em here and there. In '85 I met the late Jon Pertwee at the Whovent 85 convention in Valley Forge PA. He was a great guy..I still remember after talkin to him for about 5 mins he said "well young chap i must go now and get some hot coco" LOL. Even got an autograph from him that day which somehow has disapeared and is lost forever🙁 My top 2 fave Docs were Pertwee and Tom Baker. After the Colin Baker era it got very kinda ridiculous id say. But enough for now..i'll wait for your responce then we can get heavy into discussion on episodes, etc if ya want 😛 Cause just like with music...I can go deep into Dr Who. WOW..can we say blast from da past😀

😀 Dskodj, In Canada we have a channel called BBCK which stands for BBC kids. Doctor Who repeats play daily from 1 am to 3 am. Right now, I just got finished watching the series Enlightenment with Peter Davison. I remember watching the Tom Baker episodes 10 to 15 years ago.
What drew me to watch them again was the sci-fi intro music with the images in space. I also like when they lead into the end with the dramatic cliffhanger, "Someone has been manipulating CastroValva. We are trapped in the space/time portal!"
I think the great acting and plots makes up for the lack of technology from the 1960's to the late 1980's.
😀

If they're up to "Enlightment" if they're showing everything in sequence, the end of the Peter Davidson era is coming soon. I think about 4 or 5 more episodes if I remember right before he changes into Colin Baker at the end of "Caves Of Androzoni". Since I dont know if you seen em all or not I wont spoil it and say how Davidson's doc dies. The way they used to show them over here was they'd splice together all the parts and make one 90 min show out of it (or a 2 1/2 hour show if it was a 6 parter). "Castrovalva" episode I do have on tape and had actualy pulled it out and watched it about a year ago. I have "Logopolis" and "Castrovalva" back to back on the same tape as they were basicly 2 episodes that went together (the rough regeneration from Tom Baker to Peter Davidson). The episode before "Logopolis", "Keeper Of Traken" goes with those 2 also as it sets up the return of The Master in his new regenerated form. I wish they showed em over here still, theres alot of episodes id like to get that I either no longer have or never had recorded (mainly Tom Baker and Peter Davidson stuff). Over here too they used to show em without comercials..dont know if thats how it is over there or not. Damn...now I wanna watch some Dr Who😀

I was and still am a 'whovian'🙄 Got into it in high school, watching it in the afternoon on public tv. Had an authentic Tom Baker scarf, all the paperbacks, hardcovers, miscelanious collectibles (all of which i still have).

My local library has the entire video series, which I've enjoyed watching all over again.

I'm looking forward to the new series they're working on over in the UK. I've got my fingers crossed.

😀 I believe Peter Davison came after Tom Baker. Peter Davison has a soft rock beginning intro theme. 😀

Indeed. Logopolis was Baker's finale, leading into Davison's first, Castrovalva.

Soft rock intro? Hmmmm, maybe light new wave, all synthesizer. I kinda liked the revamped orchestral score from the Fox tv movie starring Paul McGann several years ago.

Well..after all this "Who" talk I dug in my old video tapes and found a great Tom Baker episode and just watched the whole 2 1/2 hours😀 "The Talongs Of Weing Chiang". Great episode! Probably one of Baker's best. Hadnt seen that in yearrrrrrs. Now whats this about a new series in the UK? I hope they dont plan to totaly re-make the original show and screw it up as they did with several other shows. The TV movie I didnt much care for that Fox aired in 96. Was nothing like the original show with the acception of doing the Mccoy to new guy regeneration. I mean come on..Eric whats his face as The Master??? That was ridiculous:sowrong: So what is the deal with the new show?

Yeah, I didn't agree with Roberts playing the master...but then again, this was an american production, so what could you do? Aside from him, I thought it was okay. An interesting new take on the inside of the TARDIS, that's for sure. I didn't really get much of a character feel from McGann, though. He was kinda bland, but then again, it WAS a Fox movie.

The new series? Details are really sketchy, and i found most of them on DarkHorizons.com. It sounds like they want to bring it into a new era (i know, i know, that's what all producers say), and update it enough to generate new fans while satisfying the old ones. It sounds like they've assembled a good writing staff, and the new doctor is cast. All we can do is cross our fingers, and hope it turns out well. It's a shame about all the problems that plagued the show near the end, and how it ended. I was sorry to see Colin Baker go, and Sylvester McCoy really gave us hope that the series would go on, but it didn't happen.

Oh defenatly the show went a little off bounds twards the end. I actualy predicted the end of the show coming from when Colin Baker left so sudden. Not even a technical final episode where he regenerates into Sylvester Mccoy. "The Trial Of A Time Lord" ends and the next episode ya see its all of a sudden the regeneration and kinda looks like it shoulda picked up from another episode. It made no sence. If they do pick up the series again and make it "new" so to speak, hope it is good in all ways (and hope the US picks it up). I did see the final episode they ever made (via the internet cause it was never shown in the US) and it was a cool idea but very lame and short. The episode that had all the remaining alive doctors in it "Dimensions In Time".

Colin Baker was given a raw deal, in my opinion. No real send off from the show was kind of a slap in the face to him and the fans. Colin was my favorite doc.
Was "Dimensions In Time" as bad as "The Five Doctors"? It was a great idea, but man, did I groan a lot during that story. I mean, c'mon, an anniversary story with all five doctors, and THAT'S the best they could do?

The Sean Man

Well..actualy I liked "The Five Doctors" for the most part LOL..only thing about that one that sucked was some of the plots in it made no sence when relating to past episodes (example, when Patrick Troughton's doc was running through the cave and after seeing his companions in holligram form makes a comment about something that happened just moments before he regenerated into Jon Pertwee..like he knew the future? LOL) and also, the poor throw in of Tom Baker from an unfinished episode (which since had been reconstructed and released). "Dimensions In Time" was absolutly horrable though, the episode was only a 30 min episode and..it just sucked LOL.

That's a shame. Only 30 minutes long?!? Doesn't seem like it would be worth it to make something truly worthy of the series.

From what I understand it was done as some promotional deal to raise money for disadvantaged kids of some sort. The series had aired its last offical "normal" episode a few years before I belive.

i was a huge fan

my favorite dr.s were tom baker, and john pertwee.
my favorite side-kick was leela (tom backer era).
of course the brigadier was cool too, along with sgt. benton.
ah the memories...

steve
p.s. i have one of the "official" tom baker dr. who scarves!😎

Leela was a kick ass companion 4 sure..best of the Baker years😀 Those are my 2 fave docs also. And of corse..Sgnt. Benton, always being made a fool of..kinda thought of him as the comedy portion of the Pertwee years😛

The new doctor will be played by Christopher Eccleston, from (among others) 28 Days Later and Gone in 60 Seconds.

My favorite doc? Colin Baker, followed by Tom Baker. Leela? Yyyyyeah baby! I wish they could have put her outfit on Tegan.

The Sean Man

Ok..heres a good question for all us strange tickle fetish people and Who fans...which companion would you like to see tickled? 😀 (sorry, haddddd to post this LOL)

Peri, then Leela, then Teegan. Man, Peri in that bikini.....🙂
