Just wondering if there were any true fans of EWF out here in tickle land. I just got hold of their new LP and it's damn good r&b/jazz. It's a miracle..good music can still be made these days. Im rediscovering my love for this group since I heard the new LP. Was a fan back in the day and been pulling the old stuff out and just relising how much I still do love these guys😀 Listening to the 1979 "I Am" LP right now..hehe..anyone got any clue what im even talkin bout? Who knows LOL

Jimmy

Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day

Yup...I can relate. 😀

After the love is gone;
What used to be right is wrong;
Can love that's lost be found?

Right up my 70s and 80s alley!😛

I'm a huge fan of EW&F....own a couple of their cd's 🙂

btw - Fairfeather....I absoutely LOVE that sig photo of yours (the girl with an unbrella as feathers are falling all around her).

Oh, great wonderful memories. What a great band! "Let's Groove" is one of the greatest dance cuts ever recorded...

Reasons...reasons that were here...

Ah, one of my all time favorite groups!!! Love them dsk..but then I am a big fan of alot of R&B, Disco and the like, just like you. I would love to see your LP collection one day...I would probably have a ball in my memories. A few years back I had the pleasure of seeing Earth, Wind and Fire alongside Barry White...what a show!! They have the best damn brass section along with my other fav early Chicago. I must go get me that new album since you seem to recommend it.

What is your favorite song of EWF? Mine is Reasons...

JPie

Ah, yes, possibly the greatest band ever. My favorites are Fantasy, Reasons, Devotion, and Love's Holiday😀

I find them cool myself! I have the odd song from the band in my music collection, all I find great to listen to. Namely "Let's Groove", "After The Love Has Gone", "September" and (I'm surprised no-one mentioned this yet) "Boogie Wonderland". The latter is kinda kitsch in a good way!

I don't know how I forgot this one...

My eighteen year old son has more EW&F discs than most adults. Kids nowadays are beginning to learn the value and depth of old school music!😀

What are you people on????.........

.....a band with real musicians? no dick heads in baseball caps spewing hate and flith? no dj,s who class themselves as "musicians" just because they put records on and take them off? no one in the band with criminal convictions for firearms offences? a band full off people who hasd spent some time "in the woodshed" learning their instruments? a band full of people for whom being competant and accomplished musicians is not something to be ashamed of? ......sorry folks.....it just wont catch on.

:blaugh:

Took me a second, but I caught on. Some of us are a little slow on the uptake, but we get it eventually!😀

"Oooopen our music book, that only few can look, and I'll Write A Song For you. hooooo ooooooo."

I could go on and on.....

Been gone almost a week while moving but im back up and runnin now😀 Damnnn, didnt know there were so many EWF fans around this place. ..And J Pie, as for my fave EWF track? Thats a rough one, theres so many great tracks its hard to choose just one. It's even hard to even choose a fave LP. But..I can say my fave 2 LP's of EWF for sure are "I Am" (1979) and "All In All" (1977). "I Am" I can say is one LP where I can listen to the LP straight through a few times in a row and that dont happen too often for me LOL. Someone mentioned the great Phillip Bailey ballad "Ill Write A Song For You" off the All In All LP..one of my faves😉 Theres also the great extended 9 min 12" mix of "Boogie Wonderland" which I sure as hell played alot in the mix when I used to spin classic disco, probably the only mainstream track I really ever played cause it was so solid! I highly recomend picking up the new EWF album. You'll be shocked that true R&B can actualy still be made today. I was totaly shocked.

dsk, whats the name of the new album? I am going to go look for it, under your advice I will get it. Yes it is hard naming a favorite. So many of you mentioned wonderful songs. At my wedding alot of EWF was played at my request...

JPie

Hey J, the new LP is called "The Promise". Im sure you'll love it as much as I do. Mostly all ballads and the smooth EWF sound with the beat. The last track though is a great upbeat disco/funk combo track in the classic style of EWF...it's just begging for an extended remix, I may make that happen😀

Awww man... EWF! I'm one of those folks that discovered them After most of the love was gone.. (from the popular music audience anyway). But man.... yeah, they are arguably the greatest band. When I began studying music I'd hear people say "It's hard to have a lot of different sounds and make it sound good... unless you're EWF". A few years ago I heard them on some special and I was blown away, so naturally I had to go and get all the old albums. Definitely some of greatest, most uplifting music ever heard. I'll have to keep a eye out for the new album.

Oh yeah, as Mr Bailey once sang "....Bless the children, relieve them *insert super high note here* from the fruits of evil..."

What's on this disc? And was it a DJ promo only release?

I just saw this post, and, ohhhh yeahhhh!! EWF was one of my very first concerts.

Many of my teenage summers were spent traveling on a bus in a drum & bugle corps. There was lots of EWF & Chicago cassette tapes all around... remember back in the day when cassette tapes were the way to go? LOL

LOL..actualy I never bought many tapes..LPs were it for me..and I still do buy LPs and 12'' singles of the past..cause thats where I live😀 However...8 track tapes..now those things are dated..not to mention the quality sucks badddddddd! I have about 7 or 8 of em and belive it or not still have a working 8 track player..but those are all sitting in my closet and will most likely remain there for eternity😛

EWF and Chicago they are 2 of my favs, both have excellent brass sections and really know how to Jam, if you ever have seen either one live in concert it is an experience. EWF I have seen 2x in concert and Chicago at least 6 or 7 times with my best memory of getting to go back stage and chat with Chicago...(I was in love with James Pankow!).

i do not know when that disk was made - but the label put it out to give to DJ's to sample and play - it has most of the great ones, mixed into each other, continuously changing to the next song.

very good.

I also saw Chicago at phenomenal concert venue in eastern Washington (State). They performed at an outdoor amphitheater carved out of the side of a mountain and overlooking the Columbia River; this set-up created awesome acoustics. It was a spectacular summer evening, one of the hottest days of the year. Picture thousands of people all swaying and singing together - made it look like the whole mountain was alive. It's dusk -- one of the most gorgeous orange/pink/purple sunsets you've ever had the pleasure of seeing... and the band played "Color My World"

Ahhhhh memories 🙂

I enjoy Earth,Wind&Fire. Alot of music today I can't relate to. R&B music from the 70's and 80's make more sense to me.
