So anyway, anyone here work for a major corporation (or even a minor one)? Is Bill Gates out here lurking on the TMF? P. Diddy? Harlan Sanders????
I'm doing some volunteer work for this place in Garland, TX called New Beginning. It is a domestic abuse center for people to go for counseling, legal advice, even an emergency place to stay with their kids if they are in a dangerous relationship.
Here's their link: newbeginningcenter.org
I post this because New Beginning is having an event Sept. 17 2005, called "Stand Up", to raise funds for the shelter. This event includes a silent auction.
So I was wondering, if any of you out there work for a company that has corporate philanthropy already worked into its budget, or has a Community Relations dept., are there any products, good or services that your company can provide as a "prize" for this auction (airplane tickets, gift card, new tv, etc) ? If so, a tax ID # will be available for write-offs if you/your company donates. New Beginning will accept $ funds $ , too, but at this point why shoot for the moon when I can land safely in Des Moines?
I am already soliciting companies local to Texas but I thought how humorously lovely it would be knowing that people down on their luck were being assisted secretly by freaky pervs clutching the corporate ladder! If you PM me here, I will send you the contact info for the woman in charge of "Stand Up" volunteering and donations, so you and I don't even have to be directly involved or even know one another. Anonymity is guaranteed.
