It's been over 20 Years since I had mine. For the most part,I remember it as being a fun experience.I grew up in a small town of 15,000 and went to public and high school with many of the people I saw that night. So it was great to see them all!
I do recall a friend, who I'd stayed in touch with for those 10 years, was there as well and kept telling me he didn't recognize anyone!
He,along with a few others I met ,had this uncomfortable look about them that said: "I really don't want to be here!" and "I have nothing in common with these people anymore!".
I also had a feeling some people were comparing the degree of their success over the ten years with others.
When I saw the movie "Grosse Point Blank" some 10 years later it reminded, somewhat,of that moment of time.(Not that any of my friends became professional killers!).
One classic line from the movie was when John Cusack's character "Martin Blank" asks his secretary (played by Joan Cusack) what her 10 year reunion was like:
She said "It's like everybody had swelled!" :jester:

I'd rather prick my eyes out with a sewing needle than return to highschool, LOL! :idontwann But I'm sure its a cool experience for others, like yourself 🙂 Grosse Point Blank was an awesome Cusack flick 😀

I blew off my 10 year reunion, but I did go to my 20. I had a blast. At that point, most people were settled into their life and careers and we were all on an even keel. There were a few pompous assholes who wern't shy about telling you where they were, but, do you know what to do? Just excuse yourself if you don't want to hear it. One of the more heartwarming stories is that there was a guy that was a real geek in HS. When I talked to him at the reunion, he had his own IT company and was making money hand over fist. I was really happy for him. Chalk one up for the underdog.

Two years ago I went to my 35th HS reunion. It was depressing how old people looked, but they probably thought the same about me. 😛

Hehehe!! I'm sorry, that's just too damned funny 😀 :blaugh:

If it's ben 20 years since your 10 year reunion, then don't you have any 30 reunion stories to tell?

I just had my 20th 2 weeks ago. It was very cool! People are different in a good way after 20 years. Except me - I just mean in general. Already people are talking about goig to the 25th.

In 2000 my high school had a big 75th Anniversary inviting back all living alumni.I saw a few more schoolmates that I hadn't seen at our own 10th,but the turnout for my year was miniscule.
The big thing about reunions are that if no one wants to organize the thing,no reunions take place!
Alot of my schoolfriends don't even live in the area anymore. My parents still live in my hometown and quite a few of their schoolfriends still live there as well.
I don't know if anyone else has seen a similar pattern, but graduates of high schools in the 70's,80's and 90's became more scattered nationwide than the previous decades. Therefore, coming home to reunions can be expensive and time consuming for some

i missed mine. i even missed the 20 year one as well. if i'm alive in 8 years....i'm going to that 30 year reunion.

My 10 year reunion is this October. I'm not sure if I'll go or not. It would be nice to see some old friends who I haven't seen in years. So I'm still deciding if I should go or not. I really don't want to go alone so I'll have to try and find someone to go with me.

I went to a small Catholic High School. For our 10 year reunion someone decided that we should have it at a nice, formal place. Suggestions were sent and received and a place, date, time decided on. Then, shortly before the reuinion a group of people decided they wanted to go someplace fun instead. So you they planned their event the SAME DAY. So you had to decide which one to go to! We didn't have that kind of childishness when we were IN high school. I went to the more formal with my wife. We did not have a 15th, but our 20th is in two years. Hopefully we can drag some peope together. I'd like to see some folks that moved away.

20 years out of high school!! YOI! and maybe even a double YOI!

Okay...so the "76" in your web name is the year of your birth....so that means you graduated in 1995 at 18.....so you must be 28 now! :xpulcy: ....BOY! am I desperate for something to do tonight!! :illogical

Well, it's only a 5-year reunion story and it was someone else's but I like to tell it just the same...I was in college still and dating a new guy. Pat was a fireman and our first date was his 5 year high school reunion. He was a comedian and had been very popular. I'm subject to panic attacks and don't really like strangers so I balked and said, "why the heck would you want to attend the 5-year~everyone will be the same assholes they were 5 years ago!"

Boy was I wrong.

That nite, my new fireman boyfriend proceeded to get very drunk and then stoned. I lived an hour and half away and didn't have a car to drive myself home. I sure as heck didn't want him driving me. He tells me he "got a room for the night, no sweat!"
Now, I was not going to sleep with his drunk ass~we all know how that goes, right girls? 😉 Plus we were still kind of getting to know.

I was stranded, at 2 am with no way home and no one to take me. I sat down on the curb in my high heels and carefully selected dress and began to cry.

Then I heard a voice, "don't cry, I'll take you home."

I looked up at him thru my tears. It was a guy I'd met earlier. His name was Frank Hood and apparently 5 years ago that's exactly what he was. (I'd even met people who said, "Oooooooooooh, yeah, that guy robbed my HOUSE!") But he'd apparently found Jesus and was a TOTALLY different person 5 years later. I told him how far away I lived and he said he didn't care. I asked around and the gen consen was that he'd turned out to be a really nice guy. And he was. He drove me all the way home, refused the gas money I offered him and didn't try to make a move. I was amazed how incredible a stranger could be.
So there's my story, hope you found it interesting. And nope, once I graduated I never looked back.
XOXO

Boy, something hopeful in the world. Perhaps I've become cynical, but I haven't seen much of this lately. Thanks for sharing.

My 30th reunion is next year, and I'm still debating about whether I'll go. My 10th and 20th reunions were as follows:

1) The same cliques instantly re-formed.
2) The partiers were still partiers, violating the rules of the building we leased by crashing down several washtubs of beer in the middle of the floor.
3) The folks who were going places have either gotten there, or are still on their way. They all managed to find each other at one end of the room.
4) Almost everyone was heavier, and there was a whole lot less hair!

I think I just answered my own wonderment. I've seen enough.

I'm glad you liked it honey. :smilelove It is a true story.
I consider myself very blessed because I get to see a lot of hopeful things in the world.
XOXO
