Any VCR repair-persons on the TMF?

I have a couple of non-working VCR's that are sitting gathering dust when they should be at least standing in as backups, and I was wondering if anyone here knows how to repair those and might be willing to work for content...

When you can buy a new one for around $100.00, it doesen't pay to repair an old one. Unless you can work a trade of some sort, you might as well throw them away.

The man is correct...(had to happen...matter of %'s). I have a friend who used to be in the business, and he chucked it all a few years ago for the very reason Strel cites...its just cheaper to replace 'em when they screw up. He's delivering potato chips now....

As I have been, hence the accumulation of broken toys 🙂 Which is why I figured if I could get them fixed in exchange for tapes it would be better than throwing them away. I thought I'd made that clear but I guess not 🙂

Seems to be a "lost art" Jeff...now that you've posted up, perhaps some yoing dynamo will snap up and say "Hey! I could fix 200 of these things and have a thriving business!"

Jeff....can you describe the problem(s) with them? That would make a difference in my knowing if I could help or not. There are a couple of things that my dad taught me to do.
