Do we really give a flying fu_ _ where so-&-so shopped or had lunch. It just seems that t.v. , radio, and print media have nothing better to cover than the flavor of the month going to party at this club. blah blah blah

And since when did having a reality show on a cable station warrant you celebrity status. Seems like new ''celebs'' are crawling out of the woodwork.

OMG more I could not possibly agree. I don't care that Brangelina broke up, then took the children to school, then went on a charity mission to Zanzibar, then decided to take some time apart, then shared a nice BLT with some spicy mustard on the side, before deciding to get married. I roll my eyes every time I walk past a newsstand where there are thirty magazines, all with some equally stupid headline about a random celebrity.

I think the tabloid frenzy and celebrity obsession has just absolutely gone out of control since the advent of reality television. But never fear, soon we'll be able to see Christopher Knight compete against other "celebrities" who haven't done anything in thirty years on Celebrity Circus. God bless America.

I sure am What ticks me off is when a celeb goes bad Everyone is filled with pity for them :sowrong:

Yup. Over-saturation has been a HUGE problem for a while now.

What I find funny is how Hollywood themselves don't get it. One thing they've been confused about for years now is why the Oscar ratings keep dropping lower and lower no matter what they try.

They changed the format when it came to how they accept their awards. They got different hosts. They tried to shorten it. They removed the musical numbers. The list goes on.

What they don't see is, all year long we're bombarded with so and so just got 20+ bazillion dollars for blah blah stupid movie and such and such hired someone to tie her shoes for her and...man...after all that complete and utter nonsense, the last thing anyone who lives paycheck to paycheck wants to see is that someone win an award.

I have no clue why some farmer somewhere (or anyone, anywhere for that matter) NEEDS to know who makes what and where they do their shopping.

The number of stupid empty media shows now airing is nuts. It's even worse in LA than I imagine it would be in other states.

As someone that aspires to be a journalist, there's nothing that gets on my nerves more. But whether you like to admit it or not, the news is a tv show and they need viewers and ratings. So, instead of telling us what's going on in the world, what matters, in detail, they skip over those things and go straight to what they think will get people watching.

I watch the news mainly to hear about what's going on with the race for candidacy and such, but most Americans are rather stupid, so whatever.

I still hate that kind of yellow journalism though.

Man, you reached in and yanked the words right out of my mouth. This society has become a cauldron of smoking bullshit. We worship the stuff. We make gods of these people as we stagnate our own lives in the quest to model ourselves after them and their ridiculous adventures.

If we quit buying it, they'll have to quit making it folks, no brainer here...
XOXO

I try to avoid it but I can help but like what I read about that crap. It's a guilty pleasure of mine. It's a good opener for talking to some girls, a lot I meet like the celebrity crap and are not ashamed of it.

For some reason it's easier to talk and remember this stuff, as opposed to something more useful, like history, math or science.

I used to work as a cashier, so, I got exposed to this crap every day (from the magazines across the aisle and in my own) and constantly wondered why anyone gave a crap.

I'm not saying it's not a guilty pleasure of mine. Hell, I grew up in Sou Cal, I knew many of these wastoids and their families as kids, most of them are awful human beings. I'm just saying if we want to actually stop it, we have to ignore it, that's all...Not that anyone will of course. 😀
XOXO

Hey I never buy it, but unfortunately that hasn't been enough to drive the celeb media out of business.

I guess its a question of supply and demand. Americans seem to have a thirst for junk for some reason. I get tired of all the celebrity goosip passing off as hard news also.

That's one of the reasons I don't watch the news anymore....the other reason being that most of the time the news is just depressing. But when you get hours of coverage for a celeb it makes me wonder about what this world really cares about.

I only follow the weekly world news. Thats the gossip i need, especially since tom cruise adopted the bat boy

It doesn't bug me much, because I don't let it. I consider myself above the masses of people who follow the whims of the few in the spotlight.

Am I a snob for thinking I am better than them because of it? Absolutely. But sometimes being a snob is justified, and at least I am open about it.
