I really need some tips on sorting out my diet - I'd be willing to bet I'm among the worst eaters on the entire forum. Until recently, I'd eat take away food three, four, five times a week at least, and I also work at a fish and chip shop so end up eating a lot of that too. I have made some strides towards being more healthy but I'm still faced with the same problem I've always had: I NEVER eat fruit and hardly ever touch vegetables; instead of five-a-day, I am literally well above average if I eat five-a-week.

The thing is, everyone I know says "Just eat it", but it's not as simple as that - I've tried to force feed myself salad and I simply cannot do it. I start shaking, get extreme nausea, the works. If you're a nutritionist/diet crazy person you must have encountered fellow pussies like me - what the hell do I do????

Im not a nutrionist but as someone who is trying to improve his own diet Ive looked into the so called benefits of fruit and veg and their is not a lot of hard evidence to back up the claims . Firstly fruit is mostly water and sugar and fuit sugar, Fructose; is particularly fattening. Fruit is also pretty low in vitamin content even vitamin C. As for veg , again vitamin content is low and fibre doesnt actually do anything it just passes through . The highest vitamin content is found in animal foods . So if you cant face tackling your five a day I wouldnt worry too much . Your better off eating less and exercising more . Every study has shown that when it comes to weight management its a simple case of calories in v calories out.

If you've got a blender, try making smoothies to get your fruit servings in. One that I make involves using a banana, some frozen strawberries, and frozen blueberries. The frozen ones obviously last longer and don't lose their nutritional content when frozen. Crush some ice in the bottom, put your fruit in, add almonds for a metabolism booster (spinach if you're feeling REALLY bold.), 2% milk, and a scoop of ice cream if you're feeling indulgent. Blend. Enjoy.

If you use Twitter, I suggest you follow @eatthisnotthat. I've found a LOT of good information there that I never would have thought of (Apparently, McDonald's ham and egg mcmuffin and a black coffee is actually a healthy breakfast, if you don't use cheese or hash browns.).
