I have four e-mail addys. One with NTL, who are my ISP; one with Yahoo and one with MSN, my messenger services, and I also have one with Lycos. Here is the question...

My OE program checks the NTL one. Is it possible to get it to check Lycos too, and if so, how do I do it.

Answers on a postcard please. Simply address them to "thickest limey tosspot in the world" and the post office will know just where to send it. 😀

first find out if lycos is a POP3 or IMAP email service. if it's not, then no dice 😉

synchronized

Lycos definitely synchs with OE...

When I said "thickest limey tosspot in the world" I wasn't joking. What does the above mean in terms a plank like me can understand?

Goto TOOLS>>>ACCOUNTS

Click on the mail tab. Then hit the ADD button and choose MAIL. Fill in all the info about your internet email account. Your Outlook should then suck down all your mail from all your other mail boxes. If you have problems, go to the site of your mail server (lycos, etc...) and look under the help section on sync. it with outlook. It should be a POP3 mail service. If ya need more help, PM me.

peace out,
daddy

I couldn't get far into Lycos without actually registering for an account, but I found one page here which might help. It looks like Lycos allows HTTP access, like Hotmail, rather than POP or IMAP. They don't tell you the address of their server on that page, instead they tell you to download a piece of software from them, not sure where to get it exactly though. From their description it sounds like the program registers Lycos as a new HTTP mail provider on your computer, so you can add a Lycos account in the same way as a Hotmail account, by choosing Tools menu -> Accounts... -> Add button -> Mail... in Outlook Express.

Edit: Found a page that describes how to get the software here
