I have a few stamps that I pulled out of some stuff at my dad's house. THe are three that are back from the days of the moon landing. All three are unsused, one from Grenada, one from "Dominica" and another that says "Aldrin Qatar" on it? I've scanned them in and I'm email the pic if you like. I'm just wondering if these are worth anything??? They seem pretty cool to me but man... I don't know anything about this stuff.

I can help you there...

Go to your local Library and look at their stamp catalogues and stamp collecting books. All libraries have one or the other or both. You could also go on the web and look up stamp collecting.

They will be worth something and so you'll need to get a couple of appraisals to be sure. If i can be of any further help, please pm or yahoo messanger me.

Please send me the pics of them...

Hey, Kitten! Don't be too sure that you've got a goldmine on your hands. My ladyfriend's Grandfather gave her her his stamp collection... some date back to the late 1800's. I looked some of the stamps up on the Internet and they go for a whopping three cents each. We couldn't believe it. I hope you have more valuable stamps than she does.

Because mine all involve the moon landing I think I might have something interesting here.... but who knows? I'm just curious.

Dear Ticklkitten,

While it's been years since I pulled out my albums...I do know that stamps from Qatar (pronounced "Cutter", by the way) are usually not worth much. Other than oil and lots of it, Qatar has little national output and so, they make commemorative stamps.

If you'd like them checked out properly, you could try the library, or...you could visit your local coin/stamp shop. They'll probably have better answers for you.

Best of luck,

Hi kitten,
I use to be a stamp collector a long time ago. I would check at a dealer or a library as others have said to see what they are worth. For your information though. A stamps worth is based on its rarity and condition. An unused stamp of the same issue is worth more than the used generally . Also used stamps with nasty big cancellations on them are worth less than those with light cancellations on them. Good luck. 😀

ticklkitten,
I happen to own a set of stamp catalogues; they're four years old, but the values probably haven't changed much. What you have are some single stamps that came from bigger sets issued by those countries. The single stamps aren't worth much on their own, but complete sets would be worth more. The complete sets from Dominica and Grenada would be worth around $5.00, the one from Qatar is a bit higher ($7.55).

If you want to hold on to them just for historical ssiginficance, or for their uniqueness, don't touch them too much with your fingers, since the oil from your skin, even though it isn't much, can cause damage, discoloring, etc. over time.
