Anyone remember "Land Of The Lost?"

It's funny that none of the Sid & Krofft ran for very long. "Land of the Lost" only lasted for 43 episodes. TV Tome is a great resource if you ever info on an old show.

"Puffnstuff" lasted only one short season. "Sigmund & The Sea Monsters" had a slightly longerrun of about three seasons. It's cracking me up to think that when you're a kid, you're too dim to even realize you're watching the same show over and over again😛

I saw the "The Bugaloos" for the first time in 1995 when I was in grad school. It was on at about 3am in the morning. I've always wondered what target audience they had it mind with that time slot. I suspect drunken college students 😀

Since we're talking a fun trip down memory lane, anyone remember "New Zoo Revue," "Zoom," or "Wonderama?"

...My parents had me watching this show (Land of the Lost) when I was really, really little... as in, barely out of diapers. I only have vague memories of it, and they've been resurfacing lately. I kept trying to remember what the name of the show was, but all I could remember was the general theme and a portion of the theme song.

THANKS!!!

*goes out to buy the DVDs*

"It's the New Zoo Revue... comin' right at you... with three delightful animals...", I forget the rest.
There was Freddie The Frog, Henrietta Hippo and some other character I can't remember.

"We're gonna zoom-ba-zoomba-Zoom..." I liked "The Electric Company" better, although those girls were cute back then.

Remember Lady Elaine, from "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood"? I used to think Bob Dylan's song, "Lay Lady Lay" was actually "Lady Elaine". Could never figure out why he'd want a puppet to lay across his big brass bed. "Lady Elaine, lay across my big brass bed..."

Sure, I remember New Zoo Revue. Emmy Jo's miniskirts and go-go boots had a profound effect on my developing psyche.

And if you think H.R. Pufnstuf was evidence that Sid and Marty went one toke over the line, did you ever see Liddsville?? A teenage boy named Mark (a ten-years-older Eddie Munster, no less), falls into a magician's top hat and lands in a world of anthropomorphic talking hats (including a cowboy hat with John Wayne's voice). The world is terrorized by an evil magician named Hoodoo (Charles Nelson Reilly of Match Game fame) and his gang of "bad hats". Mark and the good hats are helped by Weenie, an androgynous genie (Witchiepoo from Pufnstuf) who quit Hoodoo's employ because he was too mean. Mark spent most of the show foiling Hoodoo's schemes while trying to find a way back to his own world. I don't think he ever made it.

"Liddsville"!!! I remember that. Now, you know what "lid" means in potsmoker lingo, don't you? Yeah, Sid & Marty were tokin' on that wacky weed!

Ok, here's a really obscure one...

Anyone remember a long-defunct kid's show called "The Magic Garden?" It was too ladies, probably in their 20s at the time, who would prance around a sound stage made up like a garden and do shilly sit!😀 One of the ladies looked like something like the actress Katherine Ross, while the other was sort of an unattractive hillybilly.

They even had a discussion about tickling toes once. But I think the one lady said something like I love to play "this little piggy went to market" with kids because they always laugh..."

They hung around with a squirrel and some kind of bird, both of which were puppets.

They had a great closing song that haunts me to this day..."See ya, see ya! Hope you have a shiny day! Da,da,da,da,da do....." 😀 😀

Oh, maaaan, talk about 3 hits of acid, 2 Ecstasy tablets, a line of coke and a full pan of excellent Amsterdam brownies...and a paaartriiidge in a pear tree!!! Wheee! Thanks for the tidbit on Liddsville--I'm researching it now on the Web!

As to the theme... It's Marsha. Will, and Holly, on a ROUTINE expedition.

Who was Marsha? Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!? Like on the Brady Bunch?

My sister used to have a Puffunstuff lunchbox. I haven't been able to find another one. I wish they would make a replica of it because I'd like to give it to her for Christmas. She really isn't all that sentimental but, I'd like to do it anyway. Maybe she could just give it to her daughter, or something.

BigBrownEyes, check out www.tvtoys.com/krofft, scroll down to 'e-bay marketplace', you'll see a Pufnstuf lunchbox selling for $56.00. Considering it's age, I'd say that's a bargain. If you scroll down further, you can click on the theme songs for "H.R. Pufnstuf", "Land Of The Lost", and others.

It was Marshall. Marshall, Will, and Holly. Not Marsha.

And Elton John never sang "Hold me closer, Tony Danza", either.

Did Elton sing, "Someone Shaved My Wife Tonight"?

Anyone remember "The Groovy Ghoulies"? They were pretty hip. And what about "Lance Link, Secret Chimp"?

WAH CHANG was the name I was looking for! He animated the dinosaurs and other varmits on the show.

Oh, and in reference to H.R. Pufinstuff, if ya want to see some of Jack Wild's other work, check out the musical version of "Oliver," as he's cast as the Artful Dodger, and more recently, in Kevin Costner's "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves." (You'll recognize the eyes!)

When in NYC...

'Toy Tokyo', in Manhattan's Lower East Side (2nd Ave) is an AMAZING store full of nostalgic knick-knacks, like 'Welcome Back, Kotter' board games, vintage fanzines and other rarities. Perhaps they have a website? If you're close to NYC, it's definitely WORTH the visit! They just night have this lunchbox and other PuffnStuff memorabilia.

Try Ebay too!

As long as we're recalling the kid's TV shows from our wonderfully f*cked-up youth of the 70s, how about one that really explains why our generation is so messed up: FRAIDY CAT.

This was on TV in 1975, I think. It was the animated adventures of a cat named Fraidy. Like all cats, he had nine lives. He was on his last one, and was constantly terrified of death, because this would finally be it for him.
Wait, it gets better. If he accidentally spoke out loud any number, one through eight (homonyms count, like "won" and "too" and "ate"), the ghost of the corresponding past life would show up, and try to coax or trick Fraidy into dangerous situations that would lead to his death. If he spoke the number nine out loud, a thundercloud would appear and hurl lightning bolts at him, trying to take him out once and for all.
No, I'm not making this shit up. They marketed this to CHILDREN in the 70s!! Explains a whole helluva lot, doesn't it??

Oh, and this was part of a show called "Uncle Croc's Block", which featured Charles Nelson Reilly in a crocodile suit, introducing the cartoons. It was sort of a "show-within-a-show", kind of like The Jack Benny Show or The Muppet Show, where you saw the show Uncle Croc was putting on as well as the story behind the scenes. Jonathan Harris (Dr. Smith from Lost In Space) played his producer. That's right, Charles Nelson Reilly and Jonathan Harris on the same show. For kids.

Am I the only one who remembers this? Was this all a hallucination induced by my Cousin Robbie's "special" brownies?
