As cute and adorable as babies are, you have to admit this whole morning sickness business SUCKS!!!!! And what idiot named it "morning" sickness anyways? MIne likes to hang around all damn day.
Anyways, is there anything under the sun that helps?? Beyond the usual crackers and gingerale that is. I swear I have heard the weirdest suggestions.

I'm so excited WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!:happyfloa

I didn't know...first off, congratulations. I'd ask Ticklish Sinner, but at last count, she's on sabbatical now.

A few bites of a banana might help. It should be one that itn't too ripe. Kinda green. Not sure why, but that really helped me. 🙂

Also, little sips....really little sips of lemon water before you get up and start moving around (either waking or after just sitting for while) might be useful. I think it's more of a "Ohhh, WHAT'S THAT? (while pointing)" kind of effect on the body, but it worked wonders for me too.

You might consider switching your pre-natal vitamins. Sometimes those are notorious for making you ill 24/7.

How's the rest of it going for you?

Jo

I know nothing of the subject except that my ex-wife never suffered from morning sickness. That been said I am here with Sadira and she was an OB nurse so she has some advice for you.
1. red raspberry leaf tea...if you can stand drinking it. It has to have the leaf part in the tea bag.

2. extra protein before bed can help...something simple like string cheese or peanut butter and crackers.

3. an item at the store in pharmacy department called sea bonds. it is a wrist band for motion sickness, but works for some people.

4. and if you're dr allows it.....a half tab of a unisom up to three times a day can help. it may make you drowsy but will help with the nausea.

5. If you can find it, coca-cola syrup works too if you can tolerate to drink it. Might check with your local pharmacy if they have it.

She says to PM her if you need more tips. Good luck and take care.

Vitamin B6. I had HORRENDOUS 24/7 morning sickness the first 3 months of my pregnancy, and again the last 3 months of my pregnancy (I actually weighed 13lbs LESS when I had my daughter than I did when I got pregnant), and my doctor ordered vitamin B6. You can buy it over the counter at pretty much any pharmacy, or your doctor can prescribe it for you. Take one every morning when you first get up, and it should help to significantly cut down on the severity of your upset tummy. Unfortunately there is no 100% cure, but the vitamin does help to take the edge off.

Good luck, sweetie. I've been there. I know what you're going through, and it's no picnic. Just hang in there. It DOES get easier!

Mimi 🙂

First of all,

Congratulations! Secondly, sorry about the morning sickness, it can be a real pain. Personal recommendations: white toast with perhaps butter and honey on it accompanied by a nice cup of black tea with milk and honey/sugar in it.

If your nausea persists, I also recommend drinking a softdrink (pepsi, 7-up--shades of the coca cola syrup earlier) that way, when you do heave, what comes up taste sweet....and that goes a long way when you're really sick.

Much Love,

Stephanie Locke

Yes, actually, I have tried just not getting up until noon 😛

As for the bit about the prenatals, i didn't start taking them until about a week after my morning sickness became really brutal.
And i suppose it doesn't really matter what I eat ( or what I pick at instead of eating) because nothing stays down before around dinnertime. I can't even LOOK at a bottle of soda without feeling queasier. :sowrong:
Thanks for all your suggestions, there are definately a few I will have to try.
Hmm.....after reading about all this food, I think i will go spend some quality time in the washroom now :disgust:

another option

If you like teas....taking a couple tsp of dry basil and steeping it to make tea is good. The oils in basil is a great antispasmotic....works well for headaches, upset stomache, menstrual cramping, etc.

Congrats and hope you're feeling a LOT better soon. Don't forget to push the fluids so you don't get dehydrated.

Hey Grrl, I had terrible morning sickness through the first 6-7 months and the last month of my pregnancy, I couldnt even keep water down, and the prenatal vitamins made it worst, so what I did was keep a cool cloth on the back of my neck and slip my prenatal pills in half..half in the morning and half a lil later on during the day, also for some reason getting up in the middle of the nite and eating a small snack seemed to help a tiny bit, but thats the best advice I can give even though mine never went away, sorry I couldn't resist posting on this thread even though I'm taking a break just thought it might help

It may sound strange but I know in my family that dairy products worked wonders.
Yogurt, milk, cheese...seemes to coat the stomach and keep the acids down a bit, it did work and my family has some terrible morning sickness.
Another thing to coat the stomach is peanut butter.

The overall point is, try different foods and see what works, the worst that will happen is that you throw up(again).

Smells also tend to set off "morning" sickness... try to stay away from smelly areas...like grocery stores can do this real quick!

FYI.

Good luck and know that the end result of all that sickness is a beautiful baby! 🙂

There are safe medications out there if you are really not tolerating it well. Ask your doctor. Good luck.
