Well first and foremost i celebrated thirty years of marriage in august..quite a siginificant occurrence..and after all these years, we never run out of things to say to each other, and he says i'm never dull...hmm

The second thing that happened of significance was...i finally got off the anti biotic i had been on since august, 2007..due to a rare and chronic infection i concocted after the complicated and horrific extraction of my lower left impacted wisdom tooth..The oral surgeon had warned me of all the risks involved with such an extraction for SOMEONE OF MY AGE..sighs..the risk of my jaw breaking, the tooth on top of the wisdom tooth going bad, (which it immediately did less than two weeks after the surgery), harming the nerve which controls feeling in your mouth, (which it did to a degree, in which i have a bit of numbness still from my lower lip down to my chin, but not too terribly bad) ...all the risks occurred except the jaw breaking..whew..but i had to be careful of that jaw for six months after..when i had the tooth removed in october of that year, which had cracked right in two..he did a biopsy on my jaw bone, and we found out the delightful news that i had been given a rare and chronic infection of the jaw, which if not taken care of could cause permanent disfigurement..The oral surgeon had never encountered this infection before..he said it was common during WWII...well lucky me..

He even wrote a paper on my mouth..sooo izzy's rather large mouth ( in a sense) was made famous..the good news is..the anti biotic worked..it was a slow healing process..and now all that is left are two very small purple marks, resembling a snake bite, along my jaw line, that are barely noticeable..He said i could call them beauty marks..o hardy har..

And as a result of constant anti biotics in my system, i didn't get the flu, etc..

OO and i met some terrific people here when i rejoined the theater..

What about you? What significant events or occurrences made 2008 a good or bad year?

Wow sorry to hear you went through all that, damn. Glad your better now though. As for me I can say 2008 was one of the least eventful years of my life, though that's an improvement compared to recent years IMO.

ah well thank you...i lived lol..and the wisdom tooth had to come out, as i had been in some major pain for months..if only he hadn't kept mentioning my being over fifty..i was never so damn aware of my age, except every time i had to visit him..grrr

the moral of this story is...if you are a.) female b.) over fifty and c.) suddenly need a wisdom tooth extracted..shoot yourself first lol..all those were contributing factors for the numerous risks involved..and guess what..i have one remaining impacted wisdom tooth on my right lower jaw..the Oral Surgeon and i both hope it doesn't cause any problems in our lifetime..

Hmmm. My lee dumped me for a douchebag. I got a puppy this past spring and bought a house. I also lost 40 pounds even though i got an addiction to cheetos. So ho hum, not much happened. Included is a picture of me and the little rascal.

Gosh Izzy, did you have to mention dentists! It sounds like a rotten thing to go through but at least it's over with now. I had 2 wisdom teeth out too this year, not very pleasant but nothing like you had to endure. I also had to have a lower front one out, after an unpleasant meeting with my ex, so I think 2008 was the year of the tooth extraction!

Well, after 10 years in practice, I finally bought half of the veterinary hospital where I work. So I can now call myself owner/partner 🙂 Becoming my own boss was quite cathartic...and nerve wracking! Now I just have to pay it off...while saving to buy the other half in a few years

Damn, all these people with heavy-duty tooth problems. I think I myself have a wisdom tooth that's politely asking me to have it out soon...🙁 (Ophelia - I hope the ex isn't the reason you had to have that front tooth out).

Lessee now...in 2008, I began in earnest my transformation from chronic wallflower to a person with something similar to but not entirely unlike a social life. (My "social butterfly" wings need to fill out a little more, but it'll happen). I had a mix of mine accepted for and broadcast as part of an ambient music marathon. I played around with Linux. I began a wholesale cleanout of my living space.

Yes, they can be quite costly. But well worth the investment. Consider pet insurance?

My gad, Isabeau, its a long bridge that connects the gap between WW2 and 21st century, and it happened right in your jaw. :ggrin::bouncy:
