When I was younger, my mom and dad would take me and my best friend to a carnival, and we had a great time. Last weekend, we (my best friend, his fiance, and her kids from a previous marriage) went to a carnival and I could not help but notice how cheesy everything seemed.

Were carnivals always that cheesy, or did we just not see it, when we were kids?

Good question!

It probably depends upon the carnival, but we probably didn't notice it 🙂
(They're most likely not all that different...)
And then there are carnivals for adults, young & older, such as Renaissance Faires...

Great minds think alike...

What she said. 😀

I happen to like cheese. We all need a little cheese in our lives, every now and then. :woot:

Hey, thanks much!!

Well, hey, they serve Dr. Pepper at the best carnivals & Renaissance Faires, along with that cheese, now, don't they? 😛

Yes carnivals are campy and cheesy...but they're also delightfully Americana (and who doesn't like roller coasters and crappy junk food at times? LOL)

Heh! Only EVERYBODY. Anybody who says they don't is full of it.

I like the dunk tanks. You know, where you have to throw a ball and try and hit the lever that operates the trap door underneath the heckler and down into the tank of water he goes.

But it's a difficult shot, and the whole time the heckler is laughing and hurling insults at you. I've seen guys get red in the face with rage, throwing the ball as hard as they can. One guy was so livid he tried hitting the heckler with the ball, which was kind of stupid as the heckler is protected by a barred cage. The heckler just laughed and said, "Hahahaha. Sorry, Priscilla. You gotta be a REAL man to get the ball through THESE bars." Guy must have spent twenty bucks in balls trying to take him down. He finally slumped off in defeat.
