In the NBA, you had players saying "I don't want to play for team X so I'm going to sit out until a trade happens."
The past year in the NFL, you had LeVeon Bell, AB, and now Jalen Ramsey.
LeVeon Bell sat out a year from the Steelers and is now a NY Jet. Now his QB is out indefinitely with mono and he's having to rely on a back-up. Both teams seem to have suffered from this, although, Big Ben going down seems to have tanked the Steelers.
AB spurned the Steelers for the Raiders, then spurned the Raiders for the Pats, then had the domestic abuse allegation and is now out of the NFL (for now). As talented as AB is, I don't see any team wanting to take a chance on him, too much baggage.
Now reports are coming out that Jalen Ramsey, who had requested a trade has taken an "indefinite" leave of absence from the Jags. First the story was it was because of illness, then he was "injured", now he has taken a leave of absence while he awaits the birth of his second child.
Granted, the birth of a child is a legitimate reason, but if that would have been the reason in the first place, people wouldn't be second guessing him. Instead, he couldn't practice because of illness, then it was because he was injured, now an "indefinite" leave of absence for the birth of a child. To me, this is a ploy to push the trade request forward.
Ramsey is a talented cornerback. But his actions during the beginning of this season make me question, like AB, is if having him on the roster is worth the drama and the baggage.
Do teams need to be looking at their "disgruntled" stars and ask "are we next"?
