I seldom eat fast food these days, but now and then it happens.

For many years Whataburger had the best fast food burgers in Texas, hands down.

I remember when Wendy's opened their first Kansas City area store. They really were different then, and the place was always busy. It was the same when Fuddruckers came to town a few years later. There was always a line, usually out the door into the parking lot.

I never cared much for Burger King, and Sonic seems to vary in quality from location to location. McDonald's is what it is. It seems to me that all of these chains have declined over the years, and some have gone right off the cliff. Today, the average fast food burger is as appetizing and juicy as a slice of cardboard.

Harvey's up here in Canada. NOW that's a good burger!!

Cheers.

Do you have 5Guys? Those are yummy...and we have them in Cincy now. Red Robin is also a decent gourmet burger chain. Culver's is a fun chain, but I think it's midwest only.

In N Out burger is the best fast-food burger I've had, and it's not even close. At In N Out, your fresh (never frozen) burger is cooked after you order it, and the toppings are fresh and prepped that day -- lettuce is hand-leafed, tomatoes are sliced, etc. The fries come from fresh potatoes, hand-cut in plain sight (using a slicing contraption, of course) and fried and served within a couple of minutes. Obviously, I love the place.

As an aside, I don't consider places like Fuddruckers "fast-food" any more than I'd consider a bar burger fast-food. Fudd's is great too, but a bit expensive.

EDIT: At In N Out, the burger patties are small, but you can order as many as you'd like on your burger, along with however many cheese slices you'd like.

Smash Burger is my favorite. Pricey but delicious!! Gormet the whole way. And they have a military discount!

In N Out is decent too.

5 Guys is pretty awesome as well.

Location: Phoenix AZ

We have a fairly new place around here called Checkers. I'm not sure if it's a chain, or how big of a chain. I've only been there a time or two, but the burgers I've gotten have been pretty good.

Jack in the Box is pretty darn awesome.

5 Guys Burgers and Fries too is totally the shit but they are still pretty much only on the east coast (they started in D.C.)

Yeah, it's a chain. Checkers, which is what it's called in Maryland as well, is also known as Rally's in different markets. They're rather good (chili cheese fries!). I have to say though, that it's been quite a while since I've had a burger that really stood out. The last time I can recall one that I really loved were when Burger King was touting these "summer burgers" back in the earlier part of this decade. The meat was wonderfully seasoned. Unfortunately, it was a limited time thing. I'd love it if they ever decided to bring those back.

I make it a point to get to the west coast once a year and In N Out is one of my first stops, usually making my taxi stop on the way to the hotel if I'm in Vegas.

They have a secrete menu. If you are ever there ask for a triple triple with animal fries.
Just thinking about those burgers is making me want to go search Jet Blue flights. :hungry:

As far as for New York City, the fast food trend now is these little hole in the wall burger joints with specialty menus in each place one burger is better the another.

Never heard of 5Guys. I discovered Culver's in Kansas City and we have one here. Never tried their burgers. We also have a Red Robin. I'll check it out.

Never heard of In N Out but it sounds good. And I see your point about Fuddruckers. Use to love them but the last visit was not so great. Maybe they were just having a bad day.

DUDE... You live in Texas.....Its called Whataburger !!!

I use to love Whataburger, but I've been less then impressed the last few years.

We had several Checkers in Kansas City but I never tried them. I have never seen one here in Texas.

Fuddruckers and 5 Guys. Both are great. Although, I favor the latter.

But if you want an awesome burger that isn't truly fast food...

Ray's Hell Burger... One of the best places in Arlington, VA.

Ray's the Steaks is badass too, if you like steak.

Maybe you don`t like a good hamburger like you once did. Seems like theres more than one place you used to like and now you don't .

Could be a change in the types of foods you like now.
