Nooooo....I think you're looking for too much good, AR. I like that Rowling isn't afraid to make some truly horrible things happen to our heros. It keeps it from being a fairy tale. I do believe Dumbledore is really and truly dead.

I think Dumbledore's gone for good,but I'm still maintaining Snape's still good.There's just too many things about Dumbledore's death that don't fit.Dumbledore acted as if he knew what was about to happen,especially with immobilizing Harry.The only reason I could think of for Dumbledore to do that isbecause he knew Harry would try to interfere and maybe get himself killed,which he couldn't allow.Dumbledore and Harry together could easily have taken down Draco and then gone and fought the other Death Eaters.Even without his wand,Dumbledore's extremely powerful,he could have probably incapacitated Draco if he wanted to.Instead,he kept drawing things out,his actions just seem completely off to me,he acted like he knew what was coming.Then there's his pleading when Snape shows up.There is no way in hell I'm going to believe Dumbledore was pleading for his life,it completely goes against his character,earlier in the book he said something along the lines of 'death is but the next great adventure'.So he was pleading with him to do something else.

I'd have to go with the snape is still good theory like most everyone here. Honestly, this is one of only two books where I have read a part and then litterally screamed "You rat BASTARD!" at the thing. It just pissed me off to see Dumbledore die so much, not to mention Sirus. Those were by far the two coolest characters in the whole book. However, the other book that i yelled at it for killing someone who I really liked, he was revived (granted this was in one of the Forgotten Relms style books, so it's all D&Dish) so maybe there is hope yet. I'm also confused about who will actually win the war. J.K. seems to have become the kind of author that would maybe pull a Empire Strikes Back on us (that is to say, have the bad guys win). The one predicting I'm willing to make though is that Ron and Hermonie will die in this last book. Hope it comes out faster that the last one, because I finished this one in a day I'd waited so long.

I don't think Ron and Hermione will die. I'm not sure why bit it's just a gut feeling. I always knew Dumbledore would die but I thought it would be much closer to the end. Here's an idea...I'll make a list of the main-ish characters and you tell me if you think they will die before it's over. Here are my predictions...

Harry- unsure
Ron- no
Hermione- no
Neville- quite possible
Seamus- quite possible
Dean- quite possible
Ginny- no
Luna- no
Hagrid- quite possible
McGonnigal- no
Lupin- dont know
Tonks- dont know
The Dursleys- quite possible
The New Minister- no
Snape- yes
Draco- yes
Mr and Mrs Malfoy- yes
Bellatrix Black- yes
Voldemort- yes

Mr and Mrs Weasly- One possible, both probably not.
Other Weasly brothers- I expect at least one fatality there

I'm sure I've missed many but that's it for now.

hmmm... I don't think the Dursleys will die. They are way too unimportant, so unless they decide to save Harry and jump in front of the Adava Kedavra, (i forgot, I think thats how its spelled), they will live. As for Dumbledore, i think its safe to say his dead. Considering how calm he was throughout the trip to the fake artifact AND in front of almost certain death, it had to be him. Everyone else would have made SOME attempt to try to live.

As for Snape having made the Unbreakable Vow with Dumbledore, then there must be someone else who knows about it, (if it is true). Remember? There had to be a third person at the Vow, the Bonder, who was the sister of Draco's mom when Snape made the Vow. So, lets say the Vow did happen. Who was the Bonder? McGonnigal? Not likely. Mad-eye? More likely.

I don't know about the Dursleys. Harry is safe at their house for the summer until he turns 17 so they may be killed just to break the protection. Or they may get irritating enough that Harry kills them himself which I had always kinda hoped for. 😀

Yeah, but you're forgetting something - who says the Bonder has to still be alive? The Bonder of a prior vow between Snape and Dumbledore could indeed have been James or Lily, or someone else who has died in the intervening years...

I think Harry will have to die in order to kill Voldemort - all the way through the series, they've been going on about the two being linked by their blood and the failed Avada Kedavra curse; it makes sense then that if they're linked, one can only die when the other does.

Ron and Hermione though, I think will live, and will stay together. And, in the event of Harry surviving the final battle with Voldemort, there'll be no more need for him to play the hero, so he may get back with Ginny, too, as that's the main (if not only) reason he suggested they split...

At risk of sounding like the teeny-bopper sites...I agree that if Harry survives he and Ginny will end up together. Harry/Ginny is too similar to James/Lily to be passed up.
I really really hope that Book #7 delves a little deeper into harry's family history. Were there wizards/witches further down Lily's bloodline? Her parents were certainly excited aout Lily becoming a witch that I got the impression the concept was not strange to them. I've seen a lot of speculation that somewhere in Harry's ancestry is someone of great power. related to Dumbledore or to Salazar Slitherin or to Godric Gryphindore.
Do you have any idea how irritated I was with Harry in Book #5 when he cam across a book on wizard genealogy and he just tossed it aside??

Mundungus Fletcher...wasn't he the slightly dodgy, Del-boy like character in the Order, who was selling stuff that he oughtn't to be?

He was mentioned in Goblet of Fire & Order of the Phoenix (my favorite). Yes, he shook off Harry-watching duty in order to buy stolen cauldrons. Gotta love where his priorities lie.

O goodie, i'm 4 pages late. Better than i expected.^^

Well i was at the midnight release for the 6th book, i was damn lucky, i got to be the first person to recieve the book and for free! I was the winner of some lottery draw or something, can't remeber. The funny thing was, i was at the back of the line, and i was broke.XD So much coarse language that day, so many "inappropriate" comments. Heh, what can i say. I bring out the worst in people.

I recently watched the 4th movie. I honestly think it was a let down, but meh. That's just me. The special effects weren't that bad, but the actors......

Anyways, by now, you probably figured i was a harry potter fan. Go nerds!

I was at the midnight release for books 5 AND 6. I got into it relatively late so I didn't have to wait for books 2, 3, and 4 as I had picked them up in paperback as I read them.
I am quite sad that book 7 is looming on the horizon. I don't want it to be over. T_T

Suffering? Nahh...both times it was really pretty fun. A bit more kid-centirc than I would have liked but it was also cool to see some people my age and older as well. Made me feel like less of a dork. XD
Plus they had all of these activities set up and you could sample Every-Flavored Beans...which are nasty as hell, btw. ^^
