Are we alone in the universe? Three awesome videos

This just blows my mind in so many ways.

These two are about something called "The Fermi Paradox" which I guess goes like this; if life is possible at all, which it is no matter how small the odds - when you consider how many planets there are in the universe, virtually an infinite number, then it should be teeming with life. So where are all the aliens?

And this one is about how the fact that the universe is expanding means that we'll never be able to get out of our little local cluster of a few galaxies.

Stuff I was going to say....though i think they're all eventually mentioned in these videos, lol.....:

There may have been other advanced civilizations, maybe moreso than ours but they existed during other times, they've already come and gone.

Or there may be lots of life, but maybe not as advanced as us, maybe we're the most advanced it gets! (the video touches on this). Look at our world. There's tons of life here. But there's only one species that I know of that has invented planes, trains, automobiles and space stations.

Or maybe (probably) it's that the universe is so big that we're all just too far away from each other.

Also life as we know it....maybe there are ways of manifesting life that we don't know about.

Even if we did stink I don't think that would be a total dealbreaker, I think it's just every alien race that hollywood says we meet we end up annihilating and then staring into the sky all deranged....

There was a sobering sci fi I saw once that I always took to heart. A young scientist discovers a massively destructive weapon that is super easy to make and build. Suddenly it dawns on him why no alien life has ever been discovered or contacted anyone. Its simply because the discovery of his easy to make super deadly weapon has caused all the intelligent civilizations to destroy themselves.

Is it possible that the reason intelligent life is so hard to find is that intelligence in and of itself is catastrophic? I am not sure but it was an interesting idea.
