I won't go into detail, because its too personal. However, how does one go about talking to a friend about something thats upsetting them without causing waves? Especially if its a touchy subject.....

Too little detail to really help.

That said, you can't live life without waves, nor can you always avoid them in interacting with friends, however much you may want.

Sometimes, you just have to have courage, tie the string around the tooth, the other end around the pick-up, gun it and hope for the best.

Cheers.

Send an anonymous letter? Your post is pretty vague....

the answer to your question is you can't. by bringing up the very subject it's gonna creat some unpleasant feelings. first i'd ask myself is this something I really need to involve myself in? because sometimes not giving advice and just being supportive is the best thing a friend can do. however this may all mean nothing depending on what the actual problem is. and if it's too personal to share here then maybe it should just be left alone. just my opinion.

Yeah, difficult --

Not too much new here -- I was also thinking "anonymous letter,"
if you're afraid you'll hurt the person's feelings,

or, again, "if you're really good friends you should be able to discuss anything,"
and just approach cautiously, telling your friend exactly that,
that you don't want to hurt his/her feelings and that you hope s/he will
not blame you for trying to be helpful....

but then all of this "advice" might be different, depending upon the situation --

That's all I can think of at the moment, again sorry the reply is not original,
and I also wish you the best of luck! :happyfloa

Just remain calm and cool, wait for a good point in which to bring up the subject, and say, hey can I talk to you about something I've been thinking about?

I'm usually rather blunt, if they are your friends then they should understand
