I've finished watching all of Voyager once already, and now I'm in the middle of my second tour lol.

I was wondering, which series should I watch next? Which one is the best next to Voyager?

I refuse, at this point to watch the Original Series. I just can't stomach that right now, lol. I was thinking maybe The Next Generation? You let me know.

I just watched "Balance of Terror" on YouTube.

The original is what I watched when I was a boy. Classic TV.

You might as well go in order and watch 'Enterprise.' The show was decent.

I thought Voyager was on the weak side. There were about 5 really good episodes and the rest were *Meh*sville. They focused the show too much around 7 of 9" Boobs and it got stagnant and formulaic as a result... then awesome races like Species 8472 were made to look like pansies due to horrific writing.

Voyager? Ugh. :eeew:

Deep Space Nine, seasons 4 -7 is my personal favorite. Once the Dominion War starts going, there's no looking back!

Definitely watch Deep space 9. Essentially shows everything that occured when the Voyager in the Delta Quadrant. LOL yeah, im a nerd!

Okay now EVERYBODY: Are each of these pretty much stand-alone stories like Voyager? Or do I have to know what happened in prior series to fully follow their story-lines?

The Original Series...for the crap FX of the time, it was well written and well acted...minus Shatner.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

My all time favorite is Next Generation...but beware, the first season is total trash! Good for laughs though! 🙂

Well the original series is my personal favorite. The FX may be "Outdated" but it is in terms of storyline very well done and if you really think about what was going on at the time it was a very powerful show. Even more so then any of the other series' if you think about it. Aside from that I LOVE low-budget stuff. I used to look at the original series as being just an old cheesy show, that wasn't worth a damn but it really is a great show if you can see it for what it really is.

Next Generation is what I'm watching now, and if you choose that one, let me say it takes a couple of seasons before it picks up but after you get a bit deeper into season 3 then it gets brilliant.

I honestly haven't seen DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise since I was a kid so I have no strong opinions. And then there's always the animated series if you don't mind cheesy story lines and Hannah-Barbara animation.

Deep Space Nine was the best series overall. Much darker than the others, superb characters and storytelling along with my all time favourite episode 'In the Pale Moonlight'. You do have to watch most of the episodes due to its use of story-arcs but it is well worth it.

I've gotta second this! In the other series, the space battles were pretty lame. It was as if the Starfleet manual's section on tactics consisted of firing a few shots and lumbering around like a constipated whale while the enemy blasted the crap out of you! In DS9, although the tactics were still crap, it at least felt like they were fighting a battle. Another redeeming factor in the DS9 series is Terry Farrell; she's hot, she's funny and who wouldn't wanna play connect the dots with her. Finally, the series is more grittier than its contemporaries, the plots more engaging, and it has more realized characters. In short, DS9 all the way!!!

This is the order of greatness, from STONKING AWESOME to SUCKS ASS. imo.

Well let me tell you guys: I absolutely love Voyager to death. I wish it would never end.

That being said, I'm so excited to watch these other ones you all are recommending. But again I ask! Can I watch any of these without having seen the other series?

For example, can I watch DS9 if I haven't yet seen TNG? Can I watch TNG without having seen TOS?

I am so excited.

You can watch them in any order, as long as you watch the series itself from beginning to end. Each individual series only makes quick references to the previous runs, and as long as you know what happened in the last five episodes or so, you'll be perfectly fine.

Why is Star Trek affecting me like crack-cocaine?

I. FUCKING. LOVE. THIS. EPISODE!
With the Dominion War going bad for the Federation/Klingon alliance, Captain Sisko does something that no other starfleet officer has done before or since. Man, I think I am going to watch this episode online right fuckin' now! I'd also highly recommend "Beyond the stars" as a beautiful stand alone episode.

I've been asking this question myself since the early 90's. Nowadays, I just roll with it.

Each branch does stand alone, though each has its cumulative history and character development...

Voyager was a tamer version of Next Generation, which I preferred.

Perhaps at the time, NG's far more realistic effects simply made the original Star Trek set look like a plaster-cast high school stage --- though obviously in the late 60s? 70s the original was light years ahead socially as well as artistically.... :atom:

DS9 was phenomenal, an entirely different, I think unique "space station" "wormhole guard" atmosphere, but so many creative layers to that outpost, with individuals and plotlines to match.

Really enjoyed Next Gen & DS9, both, keep intending to re-view those two in particular --- Especially DS9, have to agree, that was the most intriguing....

Yes, each from their own beginning,
but each functioning independently, again.

Next Gen is my favorite, even if it doesn't have the Bride of Chaotica, or the Ferengi at Roswell, or our man Bashir.

I really love the Voyager series, with DS9 a close second, though TNG I thought had the best ending out of any of the series; it was something that was actually thought-provoking plus it was the first series I watched, usually every Saturday night back in the day.
