Has anyone else seen Avatar? And, if so, just how AWESOME are the details throughout the ENTIRE movie??? :ggrin: :ggrin:

But enough about the technicalities :stickout
Anyone else remember the scene when Jake Sully (the main character) first enters his Na'vi person? - And his FEET! 😱 Reasonably humongous, on the 10ft creature, and all the detail in them! Especially when he's elated at having a bottom half that now works, and wiggling his toes. :drool

I don't know, but I'm going to blame all of YOU for my growing interest in feet! >_< I'm still pretty sure I don't have a 'fetish' for feet, but I'd be content tickling (and nibbling, and licking :redface🙂 the feet of any sole in the given opportunity. 😉

So, anyone else remember that scene fondly, or am I just a loony (in this site of crazies, it seems 😉)?

I distinctly remember hoping they'd show the feet of Sigourney Weaver's avatar in that scene and feeling disappointed.

And what do you mean deformed? The bigger the better!

Pity the story couldn't match the special effects.

Yes, that's true, jabjab. Though the special effects seemed painstakingly stunning throughout, the story was somewhat lacking, to say an understatement.

And Excess, they're basically equivalent to giant, naked blue people, so nyah! >_< And regardless of the story's credibility (which was poor, to say the least), they're big feet...

Feet tend to be a thing you're either really into, completely indifferent to or utterly repelled by. Sounds to me like you most certainly have developed a fetish for them given the way you talk about them. If feet are an erotic thing for you then I believe that's enough to call it a fetish. The story was somewhat lacking? I personally thought the story was what made the movie enjoyable...even more so than the visuals, actually. Then again, I just took a semester course overstuffed with the whole "culture and imperialism" crap, so I may be more than a bit bias (or brain-washed). :lol

But yes, I remember that scene, and pretty much immediately thought of how the foot-fetish community would react to it. Never thought it would be you making this topic, Sarah. 😛 Didn't think much about the feet, but his toe-wiggling was definitely something you don't see in movies too often, so I guess I was swayed. x)

Ah the symptoms of white middle-class guilt syndrome are many. I believe the bulk of the story was based on a novel by Arthur C. Clarke. Or Arthur Conan Doyle... The guy who wrote Tarzan I think. I really have no clue but I remember someone saying something about it. Originally it was more of a technology vs. nature sort of thing which in my opinion would have been more interesting, but Avatar went for the more predictable progress vs. tradition route. I guess it's a little more complicated but there wasn't much in it I hadn't seen already.

Ahh, right, it's definitely cliche. x) Then again, seems there are some things people just keep forgetting about, and the "recycled stuff" can actually help stimulate deeper thinking for a little bit. I find that (for me, anyway) seeking to cherish only fresh ideas in the arts will eventually remove me from all that I've discovered before, for the most part.

That said, I think people need to start making more "weird kink enthusiast vs. vanilla persecutor" films. 😉

No you are not alone sadistic, i noticed them too , i mean the detail of them was impressive and the wiggling part was somewhat funny :stickout I don't think i have a fetish for feet but they are a favourite spot as far as it concerns tickling.

I noticed the feet myself, but mostly I was enjoying Jake's moment of "DUDE I CAN RUN AGAIN OMG" more than the feet themselves. Though they were rendered quite nicely, along with the rest of the movie. 😛
