AVP Poll! Alien or Predator & Why you picked that side?!?!

I agree! AVP was good, but it could have been better. Now IF I had said that AVP was great, then I would be lying. Predator 1 was great with a lot more showing of the violence that one would expect from a Alien/Predator movie, however, if you are a movie producer/writer/director/and whatever else, one goal it to attract a huge audience to make a profit of your work. Making movies for the big screen from companies like Hollywood, Universal, etc., it costs a good deal of money to make it. I don't know for a fact if the movie makers get a piece of the ticket sales money or not, but if you make a multi - million dollar movie from it's opening week, then that tells you that you work is appreciated. And to whoever stated that the Preds/enemies of the Aliens forgot about the Predator who was a host of an Alien, I have this to say to you - WATCH THE MOVIE AGAIN! From what I saw, the group didn't know that the Pred was infected, although AVP is/was the prequel to the entire Predator/Alien series. The first Alien movie has the Aliens on a spaceship in outerspace. In the end of AVP, the alien popped out of the dead Predator and that is how the Aliens got on the spaceship in the first place.

My fav is Alien, which wasn't so until I bought the AvP game. In the beggining, I was the *almighty* predator, but in the end I got sick of getting jumped on by face huggers(especially in red vision mode, when they're glowing so you can see their insides clear as day. YEECH!), and tried alien. On the next MP session, my friends were pissed off because alien team got the highest score in species(team, but teams are of the same species) deathmatch, and it had only one team member: me! Ohh, how good it feels to jump such great distance, then get on the wall, behind the stupid marine or predator player, and, finally, TEAR THEM TO PIECES WITH YOUR CLAWS, SCREAMING IN VICTORY! Honestly, I ruled supreme with alien in the game. And then came AvP2, in which alien got pounce... the ability to jump and attack, killing the victim instantly. Well, aliens just plain rule now.

Also, what I like in alien is that he can climb walls and ceilings, eat brains, tear things apart with its claws, and use it's tail. It is a weapon on it's own! Tell me, what chance would unarmed predator or human have against alien... they couldn't beat a chestburster(That's the name of the alien who just comes out of the person's chest. In AvP2, you play a part of Aliens campagin as the little devil, and it's the hardest mission in all campagin)! Also, I like the fact that he kills out of pure evil. No sports, no food(well, some of it is for food, but just some), no honor, nothing. Just plain need to kill. I like that.

I never thought of it as avp and the ship being the same ship on LV-426 But if u look at the body, it seems to huge for a predator, now yes back in the 70s they never imagined the predator race and hell its even a fact that the Skull in Predator 2 was a gag and was just there(just like the freddy glove in jason goes to hell was a gag and not serious in bringin the chars together) but in order of bein accurate, the bodies dont synch up, also there were eggs on the planet meaning there was a queen first, unless the pred alien can also reproduce.

in the comics atleast, preds would seed planets with the aliens so they could end up hunting them at a later time.

Yes u need to market to the masses but the genre had a huge following already from the origionals.

I dunno why people think the pred alien is so cool, what would it have diff\better than others, other than its mandibles? I mean in Alien III it infected a dog so yes, it was quicker and more agile and in the first and second one they had more human features but its not like the pred alien will be 9 feet tall and be able to scythe people. Plus i would assume if ripley could kill one(two tech) by blowin em out airlocks, i think a ship of preds, especially elders would have no problem disposing of 1 newborn alien

You would think, but if the Preds did dispose of the Pred Alien newborn, then quite possibly no Alien 1 - 4 movies, and possibly no Predator 1 - 2 movies either. It is like if Lloyd and Harry never meet in Dumb and Dumberer, which was the prequel to Dumb and Dumber, then there wouldn't have been Dumb and Dumber. Making the prequels to movies last can be very tricky.

Wow, a video game based on AVp movie. Duh, a lot of movies have been made into games. Question is, did the game come out after the movie or before?

There are 2 games, AvP 1 came out in 1999, may, and AvP 2 came out in 2002(or 3, i'm not sure), and made some improvements to gameplay. But, even in the original, there were all the weapons from the movies(some even added, like predator's speargun, kind of sniper, and more vision modes for preds, not just the 'blue' one) and all the race's abilities(humans are weaklings(few claw strikes and they die), predators can sustain the most damage, have their fancy stuff and abilities, like cloaking, aliens can fall any distance, climb walls and ceilings, jump great heights, and are FREAKIN' FAST!) Both games are very cool, especially if you play an alien. It is a very interesting experience to crawl the walls and ventilations and then jump and tear apart the unsuspecting prey with never before seen speed and agility, to cloak and snipe your enemies with the mighty predator, or blast your way through as a marine. Also, the best of all, in the sequel, you begin the alien campagin as a facehugger! First, you need to find a lonely host you can attach to. Then, you need to burst out of his chests(cool scene, actually), and find some food so you can grow large. Then, the massacree begins...

Also, what I hate in both games are the facehuggers. Especially if you are a pred. They just need to jump on you and you are dead. Also, when you come to them, you'll be in 'red' vision mode probably, a vision mode designed to hunt aliens, and in it, aliens glow white on a red background. The bad news is: when the facehugger attaches to your face, you see his 'face' and organs all too clear. Imagine my surprise when he first attached to me. I didn't see him because he was little, so I went through the sewers in a hurry. All was red(which was good in this one case), until suddenly, something ugly, glowing with a white light just popped out on my screen, making an awfull hissing noise. I screamed like hell, and it was the first time I ever got scared while playing the game(and to this day, the facehuggers are the only thing that can scare me, I even play Doom 3 with cool head, but this was too much).

Question: Did you like any of the Alien Movies or any of the Predator Movies? I apologize if this was misleading, but this poll wasn't based solely on AVP, the most recent Alien/Predator movie. If youu take a look throughout the thread, there is reference to the Alien movies and the Predator movies, and even AVP 1 & 2 video games. But if you don't like either side, then that is your right to say so.

So far, there are more Predator fans here than there are Alien fans. But everyone is an (note how I type this) alien fan. The Preds and Aliens are two different alien races. Funny how that works out, isn't it?

To me, the games are even better than the movies because they are so good that they really get you into that movie experience... and the aliens don't drool that much.

I have seen AvP today, and I must say: WHERE DA F*&$# IS BLOOD? Also, Preds were supposed to be intelligent race. Here, they act like they want to paint a bullseye on their foreheads(one of them did). Also, why does the queen drool so much: I mean, they put her out of the icebox, and the first thing she does is DROOL!
Also, WHY, but WHY does there have to be so much facehuggers? WHYYYYY???

Anyways, the movie could be better in many aspects, not all stated here... not even half stated here. As to where to find the games, I don't know. I bought them the day they were put on sale( OK, I got AvP2 the day before it was put on sale, thanx to the widespread piracy in Croatia and the high prices of original software, which are WAAAY to high).

If any of you have the AVP DVD, watch the special features and it will help you understand the plot. The three Predators sent to the Pyramid were younger and inexperienced (teenage Predators). That is why they looked outmatched against the Aliens.

As far as the Face Huggers, I think that is how the 'Aliens' that you saw in the Alien movies and the ones who did the battling in AVP came into play. The Face Huggers implanted the unfortunate victim with an 'Alien'. When that sucker popped out of it's host, the it matured into the Battle Aliens. Just a guess here. Queen laid the eggs, in the eggs were the damn face huggers, eggs 'hatch' if you will and the face huggers found a 'host', Alien grows inside host and pops out, next aliens you see are the Battle Aliens. More Face Huggers = More Battle Aliens ready to infest, consume, and destroy anything and everything in their way.

Oh and another thing that bugged me, that like in the span of 1 hour the aliens had matured to full grown, in the other series' it took a few days to become full grown and lethal

I know about the facehuggers, bu couldn't they just bring and freeze some more battle aliens like they did the queen?

Also, the quick growth of theirs is also a stupid thing. In alien 1, it took a couple of days just for the Chestburster to come out.
