After the most amazing and eventful summer of my life, going back to college to start our freshman year felt like a downer.
The bond between me and Krista had grown so much over the last few months. I was going to miss her like crazy during classes I didn’t share with her and during work after. We took a break from unpacking her things, and getting her set up in what was going to be her room.
“At least we’ll see each other in math and at lunch again.” She said, as we sat together on the couch, my arms around her, her head nuzzled on my shoulder.
“I guess if we survived Freshman year, we’ll survive this.” I said, running one hand through her soft blonde hair.
Krista gave me a sultry purr, “That’s my Billy.” she said, and lifted her head to kiss me on the cheek. She must have sensed how I felt.
“Your poor thing, you’re really going to miss me terribly aren’t you?”
“Yeah...” I sighed. “I’ve gotten so used to being around you this summer...” I trailed off, feeling myself miss her just by thinking about it.
“I’m going to miss you too tiger, but here’s how I’m going to get through it.” She moved, and sat on my lap, facing me. I gazed into those beautiful blue eyes and hung on her every word.
“I’m going to take every one of these great memories we have together...” she paused and kissed me.
“And I’m going to wrap them around me like a big warm blanket...” she kissed me again.
“And every night when you come home, I’m going to pounce on you and give you the biggest hug and best kiss I can give you...” she kept kissing me like this, I was loving it, and started to smile.
“And every weekend we’re going to cuddle, and kiss, and have as much fun as possible...” her hands moved to my sides, as she kissed me again, I put my hands on her sides, thumbs gently resting on her tummy. We both knew what was coming.
She started it, by hitting me with a long deep kiss. It distracted me for a moment, until I felt her nails and soft fingertips skittering on my sides.
“Heh heh heh heh...” I laughed, and let her have her fun for a moment, before fighting back with my own attack.
“Hahahahahahaha...” a rapid fire giggle bubbled out of her as my thumbs wiggled on her tummy.
As soon as I felt her stop, I stopped. She looked at me for a moment, then kissed me again, my mouth opened as I felt her lips part, one hand on the back of my head.
“Mmmmmm...” I heard her purr, the sound made my heart race. I felt her other hand still on my side, tickle me again, softly, just enough to make my own laughter spill into her instead of drift into open air.
I took her cue, and ran one hand up the back of her neck, through her hair, gently holding her head. My other hand slid up her side under her arm, and I pressed just softly enough to feel her own giggle as air rushed from her lungs, carrying along a sweet laughter.
I don’t know how long we kissed like that. Seconds, minutes... I wish it could have lasted forever. But somehow we both sensed when to stop and catch our breath, for lack of better term.
“Wow...” I said breathlessly, “that was new.”
“It’s like, I could actually feel your laugh pour out of you somehow.” She said, biting her lip, eyes dreamily half closed.
“I felt you too.” I said, my face a little flushed.
It felt like our two souls rushing out to meet the other, playfully twirling together, and happily running back and forth between us, before returning to our bodies.
“I love you so much.” She said, still sitting on my lap, head again on my shoulder.
I kissed her on the top of her head, and nuzzled her hair a little with my lips. I couldn’t wait to call her my wife.
We finished putting everything away, breaking down cardboard boxes, and both sat on her bed glad to be finished. Krista laid back, stretching out and sighing happily. “Home...” she said. I looked back and she was smiling, hands behind her head.
She looked adorable as usual, even with the old “working around the house” clothes she had on. A pink ‘Troop Beverly Hills’ t shirt, worn faded jeans, and heavy white socks that were scrunched around her ankles. I couldn’t resist stretching out beside her, then giving her underarms a quick tickle.
She giggled and quickly grabbed my wrists, pulling me toward her into a kiss. “I just realized that this is like the demo version of being married.”
“And how do you feel now that you’ve had more time to think about it?” I asked. “I mean, are you still excited about being Mrs. Cooper?”
“I can’t wait.” She said, “I’m so totally, completely, crazy in love with you. And I could never get tired of being with you.”
“I feel the same way about you, this summer was just incredible. I didn’t even want to sleep at night because I wanted to be with you.”
“Awww...” she purred, putting her hand over her heart, before we exchanged kisses again. “Speaking of sleeping, I know we bent our rule a few times, when it was necessary... not that I’m complaining...”
“But we shouldn’t get into that habit. You’re right. I mean we can control ourselves, but it could get more difficult if we’re not careful.”
“Exactly.” She replied, then sat up, threw one leg over me, and playfully pinned my arms over my head. “But on our wedding night you’re in trouble mister.”
“Promise?” I teased, cocking my eyebrow.
She answered me with a kiss, I put my arms around her, and rolled her over so we laid side by side kissing. She giggled as we rolled. I’m sure we could have done this all night, but we’d spent all day moving and unpacking, skipping lunch. Both of our stomachs growled.
Krista looked up at her clock. “Gosh, it’s almost six, no wonder I’m hungry. Ideas?” She asked.
I thought for a moment. “DiCarlo’s?”
“I could so go for pizza right now.” She said, then pulled her shirt up to her nose, taking a sniff. “Can I get a shower first?”
“How about you shower, and I’ll go get our food? I should be back about when you get out.”
“Sounds good to me tiger.”
Being that it was Friday night in a college town, and the last weekend before class was back in session, DiCarlo’s was jumping. I cursed myself for not calling ahead. By the time I had a chance to place my order, my stomach was rumbling angrily.
“Can I help you?” A young man, about my age with a manager’s name tag that said Hawk asked.
“Yeah, I’d like eight slices, four with extra cheese and pepperoni. Four with pineapple.” He turned around, and grabbed a box from the warmer. And handed it to me. “Cooper right?”
I nodded, and took the box. “Your wife called, and took care of it over the phone. Have a good night.”
“Wife huh?” I walked back to my car, and I couldn’t stop smiling all the way back to the apartment.
By the time I got back, Krista was asleep on the couch, arms behind her head, half sitting up. She must have been thinking and dozed off. I put the pizza down and gave her a light tickle under her arms.
She giggled, and squirmed a little, “Mmm... hey tiger.” She said, opening those beautiful blue eyes.
“Hey yourself... Mrs. Cooper.” I said, teasingly.
“So I tried the new name out.” She replied, swinging her legs off the couch, and sitting up.
“And what’s the verdict?” I asked, getting out the paper plates and two cans of Dr. Pepper.
“I like the sound of it.” She said, biting her lip.
As much as we both hated it Monday morning came. We got up, had breakfast, and walked to class together.
“See you in math class angel.” I said, giving her a kiss.
“Can’t wait tiger.” She replied, and returned my kiss.
The rest of that morning seemed to drag, but I got through it and eventually got to Professor Dawn’s Sophomore Math. I found a couple empty seats, and saved one for her beside me. Nearly everyone was seated, the doors opened, and a blonde angel walked through.
I saw a lot of guys turning their heads, trying to get her attention. But she locked eyes on me, and my heart pounded as she got closer. She was wearing the exact same outfit she wore the day I met her. A white sweater with the school logo, black skirt, cute black flats, and tan hose.
She sat down beside me, leaned in and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
We heard Professor Dawn laugh before saying, “If my lovebirds are finished, I’d like to get things moving.”
“How did you pull off the outfit change?” I asked.
“Anne has afternoon classes so she brought it. You like?” She giggled.
“I love.” Was my reply. Just when I thought she couldn’t be more perfect, she surprises me again.
