Some friends of mine are putting together a grunge era-cover band and need help with a name.

Alice in Chains/Nirvana/Soundgarden/Pearl Jam/ Stone Temple Pilots kinda thing.

They're leaning toward something with "Seattle" in the name, which I think is lame.

I want to suggest something funny with a reference to flannel, but I'm having a mental block. 😕

Any suggestions?

band names are simple. just need a descriptive word and a random object.

Broken Spanner

Rounded jigsaw

Moist flannel

all rubbish suggestions, but you get the idea, this formula is a great topic for drunk discussion by the way.

Hari

How about the Al Borlands (Home Improvement reference)

Dream Weavers
The Lumberjacks

I always thought, "Third Input" was a good name for a band.

Robertson.

No qualifiers or intensifiers. Just "Robertson". Then the band could name their first album "Robertson's Assorted Jams" and it would be made of EXTREAM and justice.

hmmmmm.....Jackie Jockstrap & the Supporters

Ok, that was joke. What about songs from those bands like:
The Spoonmen
The Creeps
We Died Young
Floyd's Barbershop

Many possibilities.

Moist flannel

*raises one eyebrow*

H'okay, so...band names...

Horse Botherer
The Aquatics
The Impeccable Knowledge of Sir Francis Drake.
Disco Suxors

seattle's own

seattle, i hardly knew ya

back to basics

see at all

Skidmark & The Tighty Whiteys

Effervescent Goo

The Clap (then radio DJ's could announce, "Catch The Clap in concert!")

My Flannel Is Itchy (or Itchy Flannel)

The Mourning Glories

Flatulent Pete & His Blistered Feet

The Hockaloogies

Cardiac Arrest

Rise Above It All

The One Armed Bandits

Spastic Elastic Ecological Plastic (or SEEP, for short)

See-at-all
Seattle...

Sometimes I think I'm just here to amuse myself. :rotate:

My friends method was to take the name of a "Muppet" character and then a word that rhymes with that characters name.....

some examples............

"Guy Smiley and His Band of Reniley"

"Don Music and His Band of Renusic" <----- too close to "Renuzit" the air freshener

"Grover and His Band of Renover"

Other names I would recommend:

"Flapjack" <----- come on...who DOESN'T love flapjacks!!!!

"Particle"

"Squelch"

😀

Grunge band names

Wristcutters (great movie)
Listless
Sugarbrain
just stop me if I say one you like...

If it's a cover band don't you usually use a name of a song you play as your name? What about a grunge band song like Star Dog Champion?

Thanks to everyone so far!

You know, you , my wife, and Frowg have all suggested "Star Dog Champion", and I really like it too, along with "Outshined".

I like "See At All" as well. Very clever Xion.

Some other really funny ones have been suggested too, and I wanna stick to the grunge theme, maybe even go so far as put (Grunge Tribute) after the name.

One thing that a lot of those bands have in common is death by drug overdose, which might be kinda fun to parody at the end of the show. Some people might be pissed, but it would get people talkin'. I know it's irreverent, but that's kinda the point.

I've been asked to join, and just might if I can mix in the comedy/show angle.
I do know a ton of those songs.

Anyway, thanks for all the responses, and if ya have more...keep 'em comin'! :mhorns:
