Baseball newcomer...who to root for?

I've just recently discovered how totally awesome baseball can be, but i dont know which team to get behind. I was thinking the braves coz they were playing in the first match i ever watched, but im open to suggestions lol. How are Baltimore or the Mets? Any better options? 😀

Here is my theology of baseball:


Teams that are purely good and noble:

DODGERS

Teams that are mixed, with both virtues and flaws:

All 14 American League teams.

All 5 NL East teams.

All 6 NL Central teams.

Teams that are mostly evil:

San Diego Pondscum
Colorado Rockheads
Arizona Dickheads

Teams that are purely evil:

the hated jints whose current home is San Francisco




Make your choice on that basis. 😀

Most people root for their hometown team or the nearest team to them. Since you live down under that might be a little hard.


Try this....

Watch as many games as you can within reason with different teams playing and see if one team catches your eye . Or make a list of your favorite players and maybe a few might play on the same team

This, exactly. But since the OP mentioned my hometown Baltimore Orioles, they're not so good right now. They have a lot of young talent on their way from the minor leagues and should be pretty damn good within the next few years, but you never really know. Really, just root for whoever you feel like rooting for. That's your right as an individual. 🙂

Thanks for your opinions guys. I've decided to do what any woman would do in this predicament and pick whichever team has the most hotties and the best color scheme in their uniform! Lol. If that fails, I will randomly point at a map of America and wherever my finger lands shall be the team that I adopt 😛 hehe.

Heh. Neither are that bad. But I'm tellin' ya. Watch my Orioles in a few years time. Scouts everywhere are drooling over their pitching prospects. Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled thread. Root for whom it feels right to root for. 🙂

I'm a Braves fan, and have been for 26 years. I've never lived in Atlanta, but I got into them from watching them when they were on national cable TV.

Ironically, while I lived in the New York area for 29 years, I always hated the Mets, and never much cared for the Yankees.

My advice: Try to watch games of different teams, and see how they play, and then choose whichever one you enjoy best. Team allegances can be intense, trust me!

Obviously someone is a Dodgers fan.. I wouldn't put them on the list of purely good and nobel

San Francisco Giants!! We're 5.5 games back and have the Dodgers and Tranny Ramirez in our yard for the next 3 games. Hopefully, the defense holds up and Wilson won't blow any more games for Lincecum and Cain.
