For a long time I had this underlying fear of being blackmailed for my fetish. Chances are this would never happen, but people are afraid of clowns and chances are you'll never be chased by a clown with a chainsaw either.

If, by way of social media or otherwise, someone found out about your fetish and threatened to expose you to family, an employer, random people via facebook or whoever else you can think of, what would your reaction be? I always figured I would deny it or something. Now I am to the point in my life where I think I would probably just tell whoever it was that they were threatening to tell on my own terms and completely nullify the threat. What would you do?

Actually had that happen before. I think I was just young and stupid and had some of my contact information on my profile here (AIM screen name or something) and someone found my myspace and outed me to some people. Was definitely terrified at the time, but it ended up not being that big of a deal and it was never mentioned by my friends/family after that day. Lesson learned: don't be to eager to share contact info lol.

I have been getting some creepy messages from a puppet account on FB recently, but my profile is private and I just keep reporting them to FB as harassment.

It does sound scary, which is why I don't really share too much personal information on here. Hopefully someday I'll have the courage to post a picture of myself, until then, I'll be hiding in the shadows and posting from an account no one can trace back to me. I have no idea how I would react, in Steven Hyde's own words, I would probably "pull a Nixon; deny deny deny!" God I loved That 70s Show, too bad it had to end...

I would tell them, "Publish and be damned."
Having done nothing illegal, I would endure some embarrassment but I would pay no blackmail.

I don't think it would bother me at this point. I mean, I keep it from people mostly out of decency - I don't know what goes on in their bedroom, they don't need to know about mine. But I wouldn't be devastated if people knew.

Agree, to each their own. I don't judge, and shouldn't be judged.

Laugh. Because probably just about everybody the person would tell it to would be like: "So what? What the hell is your problem?" People - do - not - give - a - shit!

I use to be paranoid about such things when I was younger, but after living the life for a few years, and hanging out at this place too much initially, I discovered there are far worse things that can happen and it wouldn't be a big deal.
Years ago, there was a guy who had an obsession with women's panties and would go to the laundromat on campus and steal them out of the dryers. This got a bit out of hand and he never could reach any saturation point. Women started talking and noticed everyone was having panties disappearing. Talked to security, they set up a camera, and Alakazam, they caught the guy. That wasn't bad enough, but the police checked out his room and discovered he had over a thousand pair of panties. He was living with his mother too. To scared to talk or even interact with women, his obsession took a darker out of control turn, and then later broadcast on the evening news. This would be worse. Tickling fetish? That's not so bad, and once you start having more positive encounters, the unrealistic fears should evaporate.
Of course, this isn't connected to my Facebook account, and family doesn't know, but I'm sure they have some dark secrets as well they keep quiet about.

I was outed in college due to having started a Model Mayhem page for my fetish modeling. This other women that I absolutely hated decide to go into regular modeling(I had no clue she was since we had nothing to do with each other). She joined Model Mayhem about two weeks after I did. I had a different name, but still had pictures of me. She found me and had the nerve to ask what I was thinking on one of my pictures(It was a pic on me bent over in panties)!? Her comment was written like she thought something was wrong with me. I told her to leave me alone because she sure as fuck had told me to never talk to her again the year before. Then I deleted her troll like comments and blocked her, but the damage was already done. Not long after I noticed everyone in my conservatory looking at me like I was a freak and I knew I was the new hot peice of gossip. At first I was freaked out/upset, but soon my mind said fuckem. I decided I was going to keep living the way I want and not give damn what others think. I basically became an outcast. So to answer your question I would tell the person to fuck off and shout that I'm into BDSM from the rooftops if they must. People will either not care or they will consider me a freak and leave me be(Good I don't need them anyway).

I keep my everyday social media (Facebook and the like) completely separate from any kind of social media that I have associated with my tickling fetish. If someone that I knew was to somehow recognise me on here and bring it up, I wouldn't be worried because hey - why were they on here in the first place if not for the same reasons as me? If someone found out about my kink some other way and asked me about it, I'd tell them that it was something that I didn't wish to be advertised and politely ask them to keep it to themselves.
