Personally, I feel the less bondage the better, between me and my gal. We use tickling as foreplay. My wife is a terrific lover, but it's kind of hard for her to make love back to me when she can't move because she's immobilized.
On the other hand, if she's not tied up she's ticklish enough to flail around and hit/kick me. I'm too old to be telling friends I got a black eye walking into a door.
We split the difference between total freedom and total immobility. I tie her spread-eagle on the bed.
I use slip knots on rope ends securing her upper body on the ends away from her hands, near the posts. (If I used slip knots on the knots near her wrists she might accidentally free herself while grabbing the rope.) I also use slip knots on the ropes tied around her ankles. When the foreplay is over and we're ready to make more conventional love, I undo the four slip knots. Takes about five seconds to go from immobilized and being tickled to complete freedom of movement. Usually I have her untied before she even stops laughing.

The only "too much" bondage is when the bondage becomes painful or cuts off circulation. You want NOTHING to take away from the tickling sensation nor do you want to "hurt" the lee.
Otherwise, the less movement the lee has to escape the tickling anywhere on the body, the better it is!😱

I agree with TickledTo Death. It allows you to tickle that person without them kicking or striking you by accident which would sure take the fun out of the tickling in a big hurry. Your signicant other also trusts you and knows you would never cause them pain them when you use bondage.
