Braves Make Playoffs As Wild Card Entry

Due to the Braves win over the Phillies (Barely) today, and the Giants
3-0 win over the Padres, the Braves are the NL Wild Card.

I know I rode the Braves hard in a couple of threads. I was angry about their blowing a seven game NL East lead, and a two game Wild Card lead, with three to play. I know that today might have worked out differently, if Cole Hamels had been allowed to pitch a regular game for Philly, instead of a tune up, but, at least the Braves made it, and now Bobby Cox can end his career with one last postseason appearance.

One would have to think that with as poorly as the Braves have played on the road this year, and with the Giants having home field advantage in their NLDS series, that SF will be favored to win the series. As we know, anything can happen in a short series, but, win or lose, at least the Braves can say they went to the playoffs one last time, in Bobby Cox's last year.

Its Bobby Cox in the playoffs, its a 99% chance they don't win the Series. Thats just facts man.

Mils, I understand what you said about rooting for the Braves, because of their opponents. I know that Dodger fans dont like the Giants. Braves fans feel the same way about the Mets, and the Phillies.

At least if nothing else, Bobby will get to end his career with another trip to the playoffs, his sixteenth, quite an accomplishment.

They may get swept the next three games and be eliminated but at least for today they were the better team

Sorry, just not a big fan of the so called '' experts'' and their take on who should be favored for what reasons. I watched ESPN `S baseball coverage after the game and these guys had turned so quickly on the Rays it was sickening . It was just one game , nothing more , nothing less

Fucking Brooks Conrad! The Braves were one strike away from winning the game, and taking a lead in the series, and then, with a tie game, Conrad makes his third error of the game, allowing the winning run to score.

The Giants are up two games to one. Tomorrow night may well be the last game in the long and storied career of Braves manager Bobby Cox.

As for Brooks Conrad, the guy is awful! He can't field for shit! The Braves should get rid of him!

The whole team (Braves) pretty much sucks defensively. If Cox plays Conrad the next game, he's crazy! If it was the regular season the guy would have been back down to Triple AAA. If Glaus can't go at third and move Omar to second, then he is pretty much stuck with him...Phillies, Yanks and possibly Tampa Bay are the only teams up to this point that look impressive.

Conrad is not in the lineup. Troy Glaus is starting at third with Omar Infante moving to second. One game too late there Bobby.

And no, Deuce, we don't want any more Phillies band wagon jumpers following our team. We already have enough band wagoners who just started following the Phillies in 2008. And we especially don't want any BRAVES "fans". lol Mitch has already bailed on his team at least 3 times just in the last few weeks. I guess that's what he calls "loyal".

Amish, I didnt exactly bail on them. I'm just pissed off. I'm going to watch the rest of the games, to the last pitch. I would have been furious if Cox had played Conrad tonight, but would have watched it anyway, win or lose.

Luckily, Cox isnt going to play Conrad. Smart move. Hopefully, it will pay off in a Braves win. If not, I'll still be a Braves fan anyway, just a disappointed one.
