:rotate: Maybe this topic isnt interesting for all the members but... do you guys like break dance, maybe just watch it? know some bboys (break dancers) or someone in the forum are actualy a bboy?

Is interesting because in my experience most of the people dosent know the true culture of the break dance, dont know where and when came from, most of the people think that is hand to hand with the hip hop culture, maybe yes, but not at the 100% but in some sort they are related, I dont mind today's hip hop music and culture, I have some friends of that style, but I like much more the basis, in fact I workout the dance with the old school style, with most music of funk, soul, and sometimes with 80s' music.

My use is the lockin style, a break dance style same as a main character of a 80s' movie named "break it" I dont remember the name of the guy but wow that movie inspired me!! :bowing:
I like the lockin style because is diferent and is a style born in the Soul/Funk style and music; the true meaning of Funk is "funny but good looking" (and I mean the true good classic funk and not the crap that is used now)

I start with my break hobby when I was fourteen, in fact I have rigth now a photo of me back then making a "freese" in the school. is funny because I have photos and video in my celphone, not just break, I will post them if you like when I get the software for the my nokia handset.

Now in the past 1 year that I doesnt dance, just ocasionaly... how sad :sadcry:

sorry about the wrong spelling 😛

Heck, I'd settle for having the strength and flexibility it takes to break dance! I admire those who do.

When it was big back in the late 70s and early 80s, I would enjoy watching people (in person or in movies, etc.) doing it. I even tried it at one point. But, my equilibrium issues always got in the way. The more current stuff seen in movies like "You Got Served" is cool too. But, I generally tend towrds old school in things.

Some of the moves seem to be very similar to the South American capueta (sp?) moves. I've never really bothered to dig into the real roots of breaking. Do you know if this played in? Just curious.

I grew up in the eighties and in the Bronx. I used to do minor breakdancing on the floor but I could do the "backspin" and "the snake." However, my main was "the wave" and "popping." Of course, like every breakdancer..you make up your own style but you have your basics. I still can do the wave and popping but getting back on the floor at my age now would take some effort. Haven't done it since the beginning of the 90's. My friends and I used to battle eachother all the time. Even had a tag.. :jester:
"REMO"

I do rememeber the guy that played Ozone on the movie "Breakin'" streetname was "Shabadoo" if I'm correct. It's been awhile since I've seen it.

I never actualy breakdanced, but I do still to this day dig some of the early breakdance grooves we used to jam out to in the school yard back in 1984/85. I grew up on the outskirts of Philly and this shit was hot for quite a long time through my growing up years.

"that's right! /get up and boogie..."

:bump: Yea that guy from the movie breaking inspired me, good moves nad style are the BIG two facts, well I will workout a little more jus because of the reply's, yea!! do you guys want to see a photo in the first years of my break hobby, I really look funny!!
