breaking the ice at NEST

Last year was my first, so I did little but watch - to see how it was done by the regulars.
You will understand that it can be intimidating to ask, or be asked, to join in.
So, perhaps there could be a general game or contest to get things started. Put your name in a hat and pull out a name or spin a wheel with volunteers names on them. etc. It would add a bit of fun and drama to such a large gathering, and those who wanted to opt out could do easily.
Any thoughts?

perhaps a dartboard, to decide how many minutes someone is tickled... volunteers could see they might get one, or two, but the audience could hope for twenty

I really want to try to go this year. I am fairly new to the community but what a great idea that would be instead of sitting back on the sidelines.

NEST is like any other social club. There are men and women and they are together in a social situation with the focus on one thing they all have in common. The rules are the same in any social situation: You like someone, you approach someone, you are courteous and respectful. If you are approached, the same rules apply.

In respect to demos, things change. There are people who volunteer to be tickled and there are people who volunteer (and then are assigned) to do the tickling. If someone is asked to join in and the 'Lee and 'Ler are in agreement, they can do it or respectfully decline.

At the last NEST (as well as others before) there was tickling going on in many different areas of the building. Each locale usually had a small group observing, and most of these little scenes were one on one, unless someone was invited to help.

I am a host of this event and I don't impose my will on anyone. If someone wants me to join in, I thank them and join in. Incidently, most of the time, I DON'T join in, but smile, thank them and respectfully decline. Believe it or not, I don't usually feel comfortable participating in group events unless the 'Lee is a girlfriend of mine, and even then, I usually like watching her being tickled by others that I pick to do the dirty work (with her approval of course).

So my feelings about all this are that people should come to NEST with the intention of meeting others into their same thing. If there is a demo, be happy that you are there to watch. After all, how many bars or clubs do you go to where you get to see someone tickling someone into hysterics?

If you are asked to join in to a demo that's great! One thing I can offer is that if you want to be part of a demo, that you approach me, Jan or any of the Dungeon monitors and put it out there that you would love to participate if there is a call for volunteers. If you have never tickled another human being before, I for one, would love to see your fantasy fulfilled.

That's my thoughts about this.

QBWEAVER really loves it when you introduce yourself by tickling her feet... Jan, should we invite more people on our Annual Drive this year? Maybe we oughta rent a bus!

Breaking the Ice at NEST

IF it is a large block of Ice, I would suggest a hammer or mallet of some kind......or if it is a bag of ice cubes that have somehow fused together, slamming the bag on a hard surface such as the floor or counter top making sure NOT to damage the surface upon which you are slamming the bag. Hammer and or mallet would also do in this case as well. OR you can just chip away slowly as needed with an Ice Pic also being very careful as ice pics are pointed and someone can get hurt.
Be firm yet gentle. Don't wait tooo long though...ice tends to melt when it gets too hot.😉 😛
